People do a lot of interesting things in order to raise money for charity, however this has to rank among the most “eggscellent” – Sculptor Stuart Murdoch has created a life-size replica of a Challenger II tank out of 5,016 egg cartons to raise money for Help The Heroes. The UK charity raises money for wounded servicemen and women returning from conflict.



Stuart Murdoch‘s egg carton Challenger II replica was also built to celebrate the launch of Eggs for Soldiers‘ national egg and spoon race on March 4. It is made from 5,016 egg boxes, 26 litres of glue, 10,100 nails, 15 litres of paint, 80 square metres of steel and 5,013 staples and took an astounding 512 hours to make.

Eggs for Soldiers was created in 2011 as a fundraising endeavor – the initiative donates 15 pence from the sale of every khaki green box of six eggs directly to charity. The race will take place on Clapham Common in London, and the tank will also be present to spur on any runners who were considering chickening out.
