Update 1.98 released! New "Summer Box", new map and BIG announcement!

Hello Runners!

First of all, happy 80th Anniversary of D-Day!. We hope you will join us in the celebration of this day!

For this event, we're releasing a D-Day themed map for Edelweiss complete with various new vehicle assets for both Western Front and Pacific campaigns.
A good portion of the new content has been produced by community members - the D-Day map itself by NetherCrow and DiLing(YISIC), and the Churchill Mk VII and its Flamethrower variant by Anzac Joe.

We also feel it's necessary to mention that we were in a bit of a time-crunch to get this published for D-Day itself, so please bear with us if there are issues with its release, and be aware that we plan to set up a 'wave-defense' style scenario for the Wehrmacht, and to enable the map in Quickmatch at a later date.



On the Vanilla side of things, we also have some new content for you.
After 7 community boxes and 2 seasonal boxes (X-mas and Halloween), we thought that it'd be time for a new seasonal box to also celebrate the Summer. Thanks to the awesome community we put together not one but TWO SUMMER BOXES!!
The Summer box will be active throughout the entire Summer (until end of August) so that you'll have enough time to collect as many as possible!

Beside several new weapons, we also have 3 new vehicle drops and a lot of Summer goodies to fill your RP or to chill with online friends with an Iced Coffee on a sunlounger. For a entire list, check the change log below.

RWR2 is in development!

We're super excited to make it finally public that we're working on RWR2! RWR2 will be a whole lot different from RWR1, we've been experimenting with a lot of cool new stuff building up from where we got in RWR1 over the years. We made a quick video showcasing some of the changes, and will be dropping more videos and screen caps in the future.




What's different between RWR and RWR2?

--- New world system: RWR on launch started with 10 maps (now 16 maps) à 1km², RWR2 will have 1 world with 25 km² area with no loading screens in between, hence 25 times bigger than a single RWR map.
--- New factions: More varied factions with different agendas, some factions are allied against others. The player will be playing in various factions throughout the campaign ranging from civilians to resistance fighters to military.
--- New objectives: The campaign has a larger variety of objectives and advancing further in the game isn't always about capturing zones.
--- New building system: Some buildings feature interiors now, and some walls are destructible for entrance, and most walls feature damage effects.
--- New health system: Actual health is in play now with self-healing, allowing player to spend time more surviving and less respawning.
--- New camera control: The camera rotates now *shock*
--- New stealth mechanics: High grass and foliage help staying unnoticed, there are lights to stay away from at night time. In certain circumstances, enemies don't recognize you as their enemy.
--- New AI: Bots and commanders have learned plenty of new tricks, e.g. chasing, driving in a convoy, retreating, looting and moving items, and a whole lot of changes in combat. They handle new types of objectives and communicate their intent better to player. AI navigation has been pretty much rebuilt.
--- New squad mechanics: Ability to handle squad equipment, give orders to individual squadmates where to move and look at, order to throw grenades and build deployments
--- New vehicle types: Helicopters!
--- More new stuff: aiming down sights, improved vehicle physics, vehicle trunks, shooting while driving, fall damage, incendiaries and fire, build actual gapless sandbag wall lines, wind effects, terrain modifications

We are currently in early pre-alpha stage so it's safe to say there will be a lot of changes as new things are being worked on. At this point it's too early to make estimates for when RWR2 will be released or when alpha or beta testing will begin, we'll know when the time is right.

    - vehicles: Guntruck - changed the AI slot priority, so that the passenger seat will be used last
    - vehicles: ZJX-19/XE - repair behavior modified, so that the repair crane is static and can be operated solely by the driver
    - vehicles: Flamer tank - fixed UV issues
    - wearables: Demon vest - stun result on healthy vest will be a stun instead of wound to avoid revive exloit
    - calls: A10 gun run - spawn time reduced by 20%, 25% more projectiles, new sound and fixed the shadow which was not being cast
    - maps: Dry Enclave - fixed ice cream van spawn locations. No more spawns outside of the safe zones
    - invasion: removed obsolete projectile resources

Running with Summerfeelings Event 2025!

Happy Summertime, Runners!

Last year's summer event was a hit among the community, which is why we're bringing back the fun ? with some exciting new additions! The community has once more been on fire to make this content possible while the core of the Vanilla development team has shifted to the RWR2 development.

The good old off-duty veteran is back as fit as ever to continue causing chaos across the enemy lines!

We also added a new Cooling Box 3 as a random soldier drop with pre-existing rare stuff and with brand new equipment and goodies such as 5 new weapons.



In this update we added a new unit called the VIP exclusively for online invasion which is a blue helmet war reporter equipped with a ballistic shield and a camera. This pacifist unit needs to be escorted to another base. The commander will inform you on the tactical map where the VIP is and which base he needs to be escorted to. Note that the VIP is not spawning on every map but average on every third map. A successful mission rewards the entire server with a ticket which can recompense you with items from a pool of pretty much every equipment piece the Seasonal Event has to offer!

The Summer Event will last the entire Summer so there is plenty of time to get the most out of it! Enjoy!

New Features:

    - AI: VIP added - escorting him to his destination rewards all players on the server (scripted)

    - AI: Banana squad added - summoned by a flare randomly carried by any soldier, they carry water guns

    - AI: ODV returns with new toys - now he may drop his gun on any kill method, but stabbing has increased odds. Can carry other rare suppressed weapons than the MK47 Mutant this time

    - Weapons: Water gun added, temporarily slows down victims by adding a heavy water balloon in their backpack (scripted)

    - Weapons: ASM-VAL silenced AR added, carried by ODVs

    - Weapons: P416 silenced AR buffed and added to ODVs

    - Weapons: Benelli M3 - speed loader: pump action shotgun, 8 round capacity, reloads 4 rounds at a time

    - Items: Beach ball added - carried by banana squad, bounces around when dropped, very heavy to encourage loot sharing, may give cooler boxes when sold at armory

    - Items: New event themed tickets that reward player with event boxes added, obtained for escorting the VIP

    - Items: Added pyrite crystal, dragon fruit and bananas as loot from cooler box, the latter spawns 1-3 banana peels on death

    - Items: Added whoopee cushion, makes funny noises

    - Scripts: added player ring color changer - use /color # # # format to change colors

Tweaks and balancing:

    - maps: added an additional armory at the center of the main "island" in the Swan River map

    - Weapons: AI may now drop trauma kit, tti combat shield, tracer dart and taser with a low chance

    - Weapons: All banners received an addon model of a small flag on the backpack

    - Weapons: The Golden knife's ground slam has been replaced with dash function. Stabbing now does a quick burst of 3 swings

    - Weapons: The Defibrillator's model and animations has been reworked. On meele kills it causes an electric surge which harms nearby enemies (handled in halloween.as script)

    - Weapons: P416 projectile speed increased from 100 to 105, recoil and recovery values are same as XM8

    - Weapons: AAC Honey Badger recoil and recovery values are same as AN-94 burst, hud tweaked

    - Weapons: MP5-SD and UMP40 got a new reload animation with the iconic H&K slap

    - Weapons: Stock rifles with underbarrel grenade launchers now have different stats - previously they were all M79 clones

    - Weapons: GL06 (grey grenade launcher) has a slight blast radius increase (4.0 -> 4.2)

    - Weapons: The Gilboa Dbr (double barrel assault rifle) can now fire in full auto

    - Weapons: SKS received a scope, recoil recovery increased (1.0 -> 1.5), incendiary mode has new bullet trail

    - Weapons: The Parasols got new stab animation

    - Weapons: QLZ87 prone accurancy increased (0.9 -> 1.0), overheating removed

    - Weapons: RG6 - Shrapnel: projectile type changed to "bullet", faster retrigger time, projectile speed reduced

    - Weapons: KS23: magazine size increased to 4, kill decay end time is longer, reduced movement speed penalty, reduced volume

    - Weapons: KSG: buckshot rounds have longer effective range, slug rounds can now pierce through shields but will disappear at 30 meters

    - Weapons: Eggs can't be noticed by ai when thrown

    - Weapons: DP64's close range ballistics have been fixed

    - Items: Stims max capacity set to 4

    - Vests: Reworked EXO vest protection parameters - no longer stun blast and melee immune, slight buff to later layers, enters wounded state on bullet and melee hit on last layer

    - Vests: Camo vest 2nd layer's stealth bonus increased to 10% from 5, later layers received a 5% bonus

    - Vests: Fancy sunglasses and T-Cap costumes don't drop on death but can respawn with

    - Vests: New supporter skins for Ocean talisman, Rabbit suit, fancy sunglasses and Lizard costumes

    - Vests: fixed Musketeer general model not showing when player doesn't wear a vest2

    - Vests: golden demon, white rabbit girl and sheriff models can only show on supporter_high

    - Hud: Vehicle flares now indicate the vehicle's icon on their hud, added disabled variant for map7, map8, map8_2, map11 and map13

    - Hud: Banana car received a map icon

    - AI: Chickens can no longer be teamkilled by explosives, they enter wounded state and bleed out instantly instead

    - AI: Ranger's tracer capacity reduced to 3

    - Vehicles: NOXE rocket speed has been reduced, it was near impossible to dodge them

    - Vehicles: M551 mg shield fixed
