Long mission coming up towards end of 2015 discussion

Here is what was posted in SB forum and the link.

I think this would be sweet, and if we could get many of the DOW group to join, it would be even more fun. We could look at the mission and plan our missions to work on different areas of it, and prepare like real life training/exercises.

Also would like to get groups of us to join some of these other big missions as well. Let me know what you all think, and we can discuss looking into these kinds of things.


In addition to the 2015 LNoT (*TM by PzBtl911  ) I'm working an a "SB-Long-Battle".
=> one scenario that has an enemy attack scripted over about 3-4 hours

Those of you here long enough may remember the big scenarios we played in steel beats.(?)
It was 38 players an one occasion.
With version 3.0 coming out, and the way Gibson's Rolling thunder was hampered with low Frame rates, I almost gave up on scripting biggers scenarios.

Then version 3.025 came out and what do you know.
The Rolling thunder missions run MUCH better with it...I started to hope again

Now there is much work to do. I plan to run this end of 2015 (November/December)
The scripting for OPFOR is 60% done.

I'll keep you updated on the work in progress. As to give glimpse of what to expect, you'll find the approximate order of battle(ORBAT) of the opposing forces(OPFOR) in the attached sce file.

I'll work out the SOP's and FM-tactics for OPFOR and publish them over the comming months. So that those who want to take a leadership role can do their "S2-work".

And of course I need the help of everybody in the coming months: keep advertising steel beasts and and try to attract player so we can fill the ranks of "BLUEFOR" which will be Battalion size.

It would be awesome if we could get enough of us to have a full company in the group, or at least round out a company with additional people. We could set up a commander, XO, Platoon leaders, and Platoon sergeants at a minimum. We could multi-crew, and or try to have all tanks with a person in them. This could be really fun.

Until I somehow land a career job (HOPEFULLY SOON), I'm in.  I can volunteer as platoon leader or XO.  Prefer infantry since few people enjoy using them (well, this IS a tank simulator after all).
