Playing against the AI

I've having trouble trying to determine how to play against the AI when it goes through phases.  Do I have to actually keep clicking on the next phase start for the AI each time it goes through a step?   Seems like I was clicking almost a hundred times for it to get through it's movement/combat phase?   Sorry new to the game as of a few days ago and trying to play a campaign scenario against a Soviet AI.
