Combat Mission Fortress Italy brings wargamers to the "soft underbelly of Europe", a place that was anything but. A very often neglected theater of war, Fortress Italy starts with the Sicilian campaign from July through August 1943.

1) SITUATION:
a) Enemy:
ENY motorized infantry of approximate company size is organizing for an attack.

b) Own:
BLUFOR mechanized infantry company is to conduct a spoiling attack beyond the FEBA.

c) One recon platoon with SpPz Luchs attached. One tank platoon with KPz Leopard attached.

2) MISSION:
ENY is attempting to gain urban and forested terrain near the FEBA to facilitate a future attack. Company is to attrit the enemy and capture objective MARKT.

3) EXECUTION:

Intent: Cause debilitating casualties to ENY and deny territory at objective MARKT.

a) Concept of Operation:
Company will make an approach northward from the LD, then attempt contact at the LC. High-ground will provide good observation down into ENY positions.

i) Maneuver:
Company is to expedite maneuver northward into the valley due to threat of ENY ATGM. Infantry should dismount in defilade.

ii) Fires:
Two batteries of armored mortar available.

Strategic Command: World War I - Empires in Turmoil - Dev Diary #1

Last year, after the release of American Civil War brought the Strategic Command series well and truly into the 19th century, we received a great amount of community feedback asking us to revisit the Franco-Prussian War, a conflict first included in Strategic Command 2's WWI release. With the American Civil War engine being designed for that period of history, we agreed that it would be the perfect time to explore this conflict again, and thus the 1870 Blood and Iron campaign was born.

However, the Franco-Prussian War is far from the only conflict included in Strategic Command 2 that would be interesting to revisit. Five of these campaigns, as well as one covering a conflict we've never covered before in the Second Balkan War, will make up our new DLC for Strategic Command WWI: Empires in Turmoil.
