Devlog #2 – Explosions, Gore, AI Sieges, and More
Fri, 29 August 2025

Hello Rangers,

We're back with Devlog 2 for Airborne Ranger: FightOut! Development has been pushing forward on multiple fronts, and we're excited to share some of the big additions and improvements we've been working on. Alongside this post, you'll also find a brand-new video devlog on YouTube, where we showcase these features in action—so don't miss it.

💥 Explosions & Gore

The battlefield just got a lot more intense. We've introduced a multi-stage explosion system, with damage falloff depending on your distance from the blast. Claymores now send out lethal shrapnel that interacts with the environment, smashing barriers, glass, and even taking out enemy patrols.

On top of that, we've implemented a dynamic gore system. Dismemberment and ragdoll effects are fully synced across multiplayer, making each encounter brutally realistic. You'll see limbs torn off, enemies collapse in gruesome detail, and even the environment reacting to the carnage. It's not just for shock value—it reinforces the tactical weight of every engagement.

🪓 Destructible World Objects

The world is becoming more alive—and more breakable. Everyday objects like bottles, server racks, generators, vending machines, TVs, and fences now react realistically when shot or blown up. This destructibility is fully synchronized in multiplayer, so what you destroy, your squad sees destroyed too.

🤖 AI Improvements & Siege Mechanics

Our AI has leveled up. Using the new AI Position Recycling system, enemies despawn when they're too far away and reappear closer to the action—keeping fights intense and performance smooth.

We've also introduced siege mechanics: AI squads now flank, coordinate, and launch sustained assaults on fortified positions. You'll feel the difference when you try to hold out against waves of determined enemies.

⚙️ Performance Optimization

To keep the action running smoothly, we've built a World Clustering system. This tech dynamically activates and deactivates areas of the map, along with their objects, to balance performance and memory usage. This means larger, more detailed maps with less overhead on your system.

🌍 Expanding the World

The natural environment across the map is now almost complete—lush forests, open fields, and rugged terrain to fight across. Structures, bases, and other points of interest are being added steadily, giving you more places to infiltrate, sabotage, and defend.

📦 New Interactables & Systems

  •     Lootable crates with new animations.
  •     A military notebook mini-game that can make or break a mission—protect it at all costs.
  •     Airdrop rewards tied to side objectives, rewarding exploration and risk-taking.
  •     New examine animations while looting for added immersion.

🚤 Vehicles

The first new vehicle is on its way: the Hovercraft. Amphibious, fast, and built for insertions and extractions, it will soon add a new tactical layer to your operations.

🔮 What's Next

Work is already underway on new explosive gas cisterns at the Salvage Yard, which will play a role in future sabotage and rescue missions. Expect more dynamic interactions and mission variety in upcoming builds.

🎬 Watch the Devlog Video

Words can only tell part of the story. Check out the full Devlog 2 video on YouTube, where we show off all these systems—explosions, gore, AI sieges, destructible environments, and more—in live gameplay.

That's all for this update, Rangers. Development is moving fast, and your feedback keeps us going strong. Let us know what you think of these new features, and stay tuned for even bigger updates coming soon.

Until next time—
Plan. Execute. Extract. Survive.
