Excerpts of the battalion commander's orders for...

1. Situation:
Enemy: In attack from South with armored forces reached river ALLER; identified a MechInfRgt BMP/T-80 in front.
Own: Delaying force 913 was able to delay the foremost enemy units successfully and disengaged with armored infantry co's to prepare time-limited defense southward BERGEN.
Reinforced TankCo still close to the enemy. One patrol each at the roads K3 and B3. Another petrol ca. 2 km southwards, currently no radio contact.
   
2. Task:
913 pick-ups final own forces with armored forces out of BP at WOLTHAUSEN and delays enemy for ca. 60 minutes, to give the BN time to complete the defense preparation.
Coop: 1 EN team
FS: 4 Plt with 3 tubes each by ArtyBN 915 (HE, ICM, Smoke); 4 Arty targets (Art 1 to 4) are prepared.

3. Execution:
   -Tankplatoon A (O./2./911) currently on the southern edge of WOLTHAUSEN
-reinforced by 2nd section of B/4./PzGren 913
-secure immediately WOLTHAUSEN and bridges crossing ÖRTZE-Brücken along the roads K3 and B3
-secure preparation for busting the bridge crossing ÖRTZE at WOLTHAUSEN
-takeover barrier and fire on BN order; password: SCHNEEBALL (then trigger: Sprengen/Blow up)
-emergency blast, if the barrier threatens to fall into enemy hands (then trigger: Sprengen/Blow up)
-cover by fire the delay of 2./911 and patrols on K3 and B3 and retrieve them
-delay pursuing enemy forces till ca. 0900
-withdraw on line Violine-OBOE; junction is marked
-regroup in SA RES for support and stay ready for following tasks

4. CSS:
   Rearm and refuel in SA RES;
   ARV and medic attached

5. CCC
   Callsign according to the map

Not bad at all.  Jammed them up pretty well on that road B-3.  Seems like the Marder has a lousy gun but it's ok.  OPFOR never had a chance, but they gave you quite a repair bill.  Looked like you had problems adjusting the focus on your thermals.  Infantry did nothing but watch and enjoy.

Yes, I did have trouble focusing the thermal imager. I forgot that on the Marder, there is no automatic focus when you press the keypad * key. On the Marder, focus is controlled manually with the keypad * and keypad / keys.
