Plan for the Allies:
To approach the enemy unexpectedly on the one hand by all means. Since the object of protection was in the north-west (the French had to pay more attention to the southern direction), it was decided to bypass the enemy from the north. Defenders are forced to expect an enemy in all directions. In order not to spray the attacking forces, the French decided to abandon unnecessary maneuvers and concentrate everything on the main direction.

Strategically, the plan was a success: the French were in the minority (some of the French forces were removed in another direction). But tactically the battle was lost. If on the slope the Allies easily moved upwards, when they ascended to the plain, the skillful combination of the French "infantry-cavalry-artillery" decided the outcome of the battle. The attackers stalled and suffered losses.

Colbert

I waited for the enemy (the allies) to come from north-north / east, in fact, I had lined up the men of my division on the northern front. I immediately attacked an entire army corps, I strenuously defended the objective that he remained in French hands for almost all the time, I suffered huge losses more than 2500 men I believe and I inflicted on the enemy 1500 losses around, my division, was practically destroyed, but, I resist until the last, when the battle It's over, I was bringing back the remains of my division, I thought we would lose the battle, it was nice to know that at the end, the victory was ours  :howdy :howdy :howdy :howdy :notworthy :dwarf :dwarf :dwarf :dwarf :dwarf
