I downloaded he core engine and tried out the tutorial scenario. I like the concept of issuing high level commands and letting the AI micromanage. However I am still green to this game and I have no idea what or why the thingies move around the board the way they do. I need to get my head in the game manual me thinks. Cheers Frankie.

Hi Frankie,

Don´t let that it get you down. I don´t have the manual right now beacuse I just recently moved to W10. I have the core engine downloaded but havent installed it yet. The IA moves the counters for you depending on there status, you mainly give orders and tell them where to move. From there they will do what they think they need to do depending on the situation, like fall back, move to a higher ground etc. It´s similar to "Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm". I do remember that when I played CODA (Conquest of the Aegean) which is also from Panther Games (same engine, discontinued now) I had a hard time, but the manual did include a good tutorial. Check the manual for that, I can´t do it for now, need to install the game.  I will get on Co Ops 2 soon  ;)

Either way, here are some tutorial videos which will help you out...

Follow the series.

Here´s a video that explains how Command Ops 2 works at high or low level´s of command among other things. I find this video pretty good, great Introduction to the game.

Also here´s a tutorial for "Return to St. Vith":
http://forums.lnlpublishing.com/resources/command-ops-2-return-to-st-vith-tutorial-aar-part-1-pages-1-30.85/

I don´t suggest printing this PDF tutorial, it´s a waste of money, it´s very nice but the text is way to small and you would have to print it horizontal! Like I said it´s nice but it´s stacked to the max and that´s why it´s 70mb!  Your better off using it on a tablet zoomed in or on a second monitor, zoomed in aswell.

You might not agree with the priceing mode Panther Games has set with Command Ops 2, but it is a awesome Wargame IMHO once you understand how it works. I will be head on with this one.  I did think of installing my COTA CD (Conquest of the Aegean) but from what I red on the Matrix forum it won´t work well on my actual monitor resolution, so Command Ops 2 is the only option if I want to play this style of game again.

Dont know if done yet, but here´s a link to the developers channel with all the tutorials:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMyo3cXPNrcoY9-u-lezVEQ

The videos result from CO #1, but the principles of giving tasks and game mechanics mostly remained, but more features and content was added. So the tutorials are sufficiant to learn how the simulation works and also why many things do happen as they finally do and why they might not run, as the not yet instructed commander perhaps expected.
