The real purpose of my last post of
http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5046.msg51975.html#msg51975 was to answer a question posed to me on Youtube, where someone asked " Please, where can I download it (the mods) of FLIGHT.EXE."
My last post is more for those without the Steam Tornado. It doesn't supplant, supersede and replace the earlier posts.
For example, if one doesn't have the Steam version of Tornado, one would just need to do the steps outlined in my
http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5046.msg51975.html#msg51975 post.
These are manual, but straightforwrd steps which involve the user copying and renaming files.
The prerequisite of my
http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5046.msg51951.html#msg51951 post is that one needs to have a Steam Tornado. It allows the Tornado gamer to easily switch from one version of FLIGHT.EXE to another without any manual steps (except, of course, for the initial setup of the downloading and extracting of files, and the editing of the dosbox-staging.conf file. Once the setup is done, subsequent clicking of the Stream's Play button will invoke the Grok-crafted menu, and you will get to enjoy whichever variant of Tornado you want your session to use.
Even if you own the Steam version of Tornado, my last post of
http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5046.msg51975.html#msg51975 can still be used but it will only allow you to run one version of FLIGHT.EXE - my modded version. If you felt that the modded FLIGHT.EXE changed the external views, not to your liking, then you would have to restore/rename the original FLIGHT.EXE manually. For those with Steam version of Tornado, if you want to try out the modded FLIGHT.EXE, here are the same 4 steps, but with specific folder paths for your convenience.
Step#1. Download these necessary files
from
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fQUGJrK3J3UJDx6SyS2FL3lKrsfnvjLw?usp=sharingStep#2. Setup the latest European 3D Engine (i.e., FLIGHT.EXE)
Rename your current C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\FLIGHT\FLIGHT.EXE to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\FLIGHT\FLIGHT.ORI
Download the file FLIGHT.EXE
Copy the file FLIGHT.EXE to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\FLIGHT subfolder
Note: This modded FLIGHT.EXE is as of 12th April 2025 (My birthday haha!)
Step#3. Setup the More Cloud Mod
Download the files CLOUD1.BIN and CLOUD2.BIN
Copy and paste the CLOUD1.BIN and CLOUD2.BIN files inside the five MAP subfolders where AMP is the parent folder.
I.e.,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\AMP\MAP1
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\AMP\MAP2
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\AMP\MAP3
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\AMP\MAP4
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\AMP\MAP5
Note: best if you first backup the original CLOUD1.BIN and CLOUD2.BIN files first.
For example you could rename them from
CLOUD1.BIN to CLOUD1.ORI
CLOUD2.BIN to CLOUD2.ORI
Step#4. Setup the Pilot Panel with a Digital Fuel Gauge
Note: if your Pilot Panel (Press Home) already shows a digital fuel readout,
then you can SKIP this step. Tornado versions 1.0b through to 1.0E or 1.0F
already have the digital fuel readout on the Pilot's panel.
Rename your current C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\FLIGHT\PILOTPAN.BT2 to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\FLIGHT\PILOTPAN_ori.BT2
Download the file PILOTPAN.BT2
Copy the file PILOTPAN.BT2 to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tornado\TORNADO\TORNADO.CD\FLIGHT subfolder
Cheers
