My decisive strategic error.
The plan was not to take the watpoint objective but to maintain the threat with Samuel, forcing an enemy contingent to garrison on the spot. Thus removing forces to defend the fixed target.
Colbert would have gone around from the south west, and I (Reille) with my two divisions, Foy and Girard would have attacked from the south and east.
The plan was valid if you didn't take the waypoint. But gluttony got the better of prudence, and I ordered Samuel to take 1000 points as soon as possible.
Serious mistake that blew everything up.
