The Galaxy Class USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) discovers the ruins of the Battlestar Galactica in orbit around the planet Caprica and determines, via scan, that it's inhabitants had been Capricans of human decent .. Upon after summoning support from other Federation Starships, the USS Enterprise follows the trail left behind by the Cylon ships at warp speed in order to intercept them before they can do any more damage to the Capricans ... By the time the Enterprise intercepts the Cylon Basestars, the last Caprican Battlestar had been destroyed leaving the civilian Capricans undefended ..
