4.0 confirmed and unconfirmed rumours
« on: June 18, 2016, 06:50:26 PM »
From Ssnake on the release of 4.0:

Maybe SOME update is in order.

Irrespective of the "why", our "Plan A" for the release failed. We are currently working on a "Plan B" in the hope of making a release within the next four weeks possible. That would be outside of the window of opportunity that we expected to have, but there's still a chance well above zero to make a release possible. I don't want to dive into details as long as I don't know if Plan B will really work. That's what we're currently trying to figure out.

I'll keep you posted once that I have more reliable information.

Some will be disappointed but I believe it should be released when eSim are ready. If they rush then you might get lots of bugs/issues.

My advice is to lower your expectations (so that you will be truly thrilled when it is released, and the game exceeds your expectations) and to mentally allow more time for the game to be released. I mean if you can wait 4 weeks, what is another two or four more, right? In the meantime, SB Pro PE 3.x has a lot of excellent solo and co-op gameplay, yeah?

This paragraph of mine is not to poke fun at eSim games or anything. After all, coding a major release of any game is a daunting task, what with all the testing involved. This paragraph is also not meant to dampen anyone's spirits and hopes. It's a bit like that "guess the number of sweets in jar" contest kind of thing. The one who guesses the closest answer wins something. Here's the 'contest' I propose. The one who guesses the release date of SB Pro PE 4.0 that is closest to the actual date of release will win...something. Maybe a virtual pat on the back or bragging rights or something tangible, softcopy or hardcopy. Yet to be decided.

Anyway, here's my guess. I humbly guess that SB Pro PE 4.0 will officially be released by eSImGames on 13th August 2016 which is in 2 months time. That date, for me, means means that eSImGames has made it ready with minimum bugs and to the satisfaction of the SteelBeasts community. If you can't wait that long, then you are free to lucky-guess an earlier release date. I think that it will be interesting to see what date you propose and to see who the eventual "winner" is. Whatever be the case, in the end everyone wins when it is released.

Wow Frankie you're optimistic. I'm guessing October 7th.

Though I truly hope it will be ready at end of July... but try that just sounds way too early.

When Ssnake said they were switching to plan B, I assume that means that a feature they meant to have in will need to be left out.  Therefore my guess for release date is much more optimistic: 22 July 2016.

I'm also hoping for the second half of July judging by his posts on steelbeasts.com.

They already screwed up 4.0 anyway

They failed to add in the M2A3.  That PC has been out for over ten years now, no reason why they failed to add it in.

FAIL!!!

I'm expecting a release near Christmas.  Why not eh?   :P

Well the Marder is almost 28 years old, so I am sure that the M2A3 will be added sometime within the next 18 years. :P

I think that some vehicles are just way classified to be in Steelbeast or in Personal Edition. It may not be limitation from Esim, but limitation from military customers.

M2A3, in my eyes could be one like that.

Ajax - Scout most likely is like so.

Even M1A2 Sep, is not showing all of its FCS. Same likely goes to many if not most vehicles.

On CV9030...  there is a huge lot of things I didn't know about. I'm very surpriced that FCS on cv90 is very well modeled...  and even more surpriced that those mysterious military secreds why its good for Finnish army are not part of FCS but something else. Features....  that certainly are NOT and are not going to be modeled to Steelbeast. MEOW!

To think about it.

Steelbeast gives us insight of how basic FCS in AFVs work. And we get practice using it agaisnt virtual opponents. That's about it...  there it stays. There is a huge lot that cannot be modeled cause of classified reasons. In the end this is just a kind of test bed to learn how to do basic shooting with vehicle. How to do basic operating with its FCS. Just the basics. And just small portion from FCS.

We do not know of Radio systems, Map or communication systems. Perhaps M2A3, without all these.. and with lacking great upgrades if FCS is not much different from M2A2? Maybe with M2A2...  in truth you can train your grew to the start well enough before letting them to field?

-----

These additions they put into Steelbeast to be in 4.0 are great choises. BMP-2 and T72B1, M60 + Centurion. Are all great in long terms. Those vehicles give us insigh of the basic conseps of these vehicles, and their FCS.

BMP-2 as it is in service of Finnish army. - Finally I can get to test its advantages. Especially of its main gun. - Its FCS on Finland is not anywhere close of moderniced version but I'm optimistic it will still give very good insight of its capabilities as AFV when put into Finnish terrain and battle drills.

Basically same goes to other chosen vehicles... all of witch for reason or other can be expected to be in service for long time. Or already have been.
