Crewable Positions
« on: September 16, 2015, 12:35:59 AM »
I have pondered this for quite some time.

Why are there many vehicles which you can control in 3rd person or map view but you cannot enter them?

I would have though the introduction of at least a driver’s position would not be a massive undertaking.

Look at the Challenger2. No interior. However it is still immersive to a degree.

The M60 for example. That would be a great addition if it was crewable.

What do you think?

When the developer has done a pro PE but is not enhancing it, and is not listening to us costumers,we have really small terrain to take. do you really think they will give us something we want when they kicked us out and then formed a self-mantained community. weren't it there already with DOW name ? now? nothing.

There are many things that they could do, but they are not concerned with the PE version, but with where most of their money comes from. Older model vehicles that were able to be crewed would be nice, but I would much rather have the ability to crew newer vehicles like T-90, Chinese vehicles, Korean, Israeli, and others.

I wish they would take the Bohemia (ArmA) approach and focus on improving the game-engine / AI and allow 3rd-party/independent developers to make whatever AFVs they want.

Would be great....Can't see it happening though. If you look at some of the mods produced they are at a very high standard. Sometimes indistinguishable or surpassing the default/existing assets.

This is the current M1A2(Sep) drivers position.

Maybe it will be upgraded one day but I can't help but think it would receive a makeover quicker if it was opened up to the community. This might not be the case as the SB community is so small. This would allow the Dev to fix the other engine related issues and bugs.

I don't mind the standard drivers view. The position is almost superficial, if at all, especially since you can maneuver from any other position.

Understood. However, what if you were the driver in the vehicle often? Say as part of a multi-crew. When a potential crew member see the position (literally). They may be put off taking that role.

I just think that the current offering is lacking and would not be a huge undertaking to make it a little better/more immersive.

I agree with both of you as it can be a great value when you multi-crew, and can be done without all at the same time.

I think the real thing here is that ESIMS with SB does not do enough or what I believe they should or could do. There are way to many errors, bugs, and features in SB. You would think they could add more more often, that work from day one, and provide additional content more often as well. IMHO.
