This game is a Strategic game on the Eastern Front of World War II.

It is a digital port from the famous and eponym boardgame, No retreat!, designed by Carl Paradis, which retells the story of the titanic struggle between the invading armies of Nazi Germany versus Communist Russia during WW2 at a player-friendly and manageable level of scope and difficulty. With only 70 Army/Front sized counters for the whole campaign, and with very low stacking, it?s a quick-playing yet realistic affair that favours the strategic and offensive-minded player.

The moderate complexity of the game, the light number of armies and the contained size of the map allows easier onboarding, fast play and fun experience.



In a skillfully blended collation of classic hex-based wargaming and modern card-driven simulations, No Retreat: The Russian Front stays truly story-centric, providing the proper feel of sweeping maneuvers, exploitation and encirclements across the vast steppes and forests of Russia.

With a simple-yet-innovative economic model, players will also feel the growing might and sophistication of the Russian?s Red Army, and the degradation of the once-invincible German Wehrmacht, over the epic four year sweep of time that this merciless campaign was fought.

See the Axis hordes deeply invade Russia and encircle ill-prepared Soviet units.

Each turn is alight with intriguing on-board challenges plus the surprise of 55 cards hand Events as players vie to win in one of three different ways.

CONTENT



  - 6 Historical Scenarios:  BARBAROSSA 1941, CASE BLUE 1942 , URANUS 1943, CITADEL 1943, BAGRATON 1944, NA BERLIN 1945,

  -  THE BARBAROSSA CAMPAIGN 1941-45

  - Lightweight Hex maps with a scale of 60 miles per hex covering The Eastern part of Greater Germany to Moscow and the Caucasus.



  - German and Axis minor allies vs Soviets.

  - 50 armies, split into 4 types of land units, Mechanised Infantry, Tanks and Fortifications.

  - One deck of 55 cards per Major Power. Spend it as events or as fuel for your different actions (improve, entrain, reorganise, counterblow, etc..)

  - Turn-based system, scale of 1-3 months per turn, with different phases: Draw, Organization, Movement, Combat. and Supply.

  - Asymmetric Combat Table.

  - Terrain and Weather effects.

  - An elegant, easy-to-understand on-screen guide that will walk you through every sequence of play and help you better understand the nuances and depth of choices and strategies available.

  - Different playing modes: solitaire play, against the AI, multiplayer across several platforms

Available in English and in French upon release, with Spanish, German, Russian and Chinese coming afterwards.

Status Update

First of all thank you for the people which have attended to the Early Access stage.

This EA has considerably boosted and hastened the development process and will certainly iron out all remaining glitches and necessary UX improvement.

After all these daily updates since end of June, the game has stabilized, the team will take a bit of vacation for now.



Card Challenge

Cards are not yet set in stone and actually open to player feedback.

Some cards may be less useful, some could be improved or you may have ideas of new cards.

Even the flavor text may be enhanced.


Provide any nice idea of card text and effects in a review in Steam.

We will study any proposal, depending on

  - the review's mood,
  - historical accuracy,
  - mechanism,
  - ease of implementation for the player or AI.

Onboarding + enhancement to come

Onboarding

During your very first turns, you may be guided if you opt to.

This comes in addition to :

  - Tutorials

  - PDF rules

  - AI search through rules

Detailed in-games rules might disappear now as redundant with other artefacts and because they take time to compose.
in this case, we would have translated PDF.

This has been done for players who never goes over tutorials or rules, and directly start a game.

We would keep working on identified and doable enhancement.

Our plan for the next month

For the coming month, we are planning the following:
  •     Improve AI. Version 0.10.0 should be much better than its predecessors.
  •     Finish the translation in Chinese and in Russian
  •     Clear any new major bugs. Minor bugs will be handled in a timely manner even after release.

Game's Early Acces period completed, game is now ready

Almost a year ago, the game was released in Early Access. Since then, more than a thousand players helped us in finalizing it, improving along the way various elements such as UI, content, rules, AI and helping it working as it was initially intended, a great port of Carl Paradis' masterpiece boardgame.

We are pleased to announced that, today, the game is now in official release.

Many thanks to all the players who supported us and interacted with our development team to reach this status.

Of course, the game will continue to receive our greatest care and attention.

Se trata de una adaptación digital del famoso juego de mesa homónimo No Retreat!, diseñado por Carl Paradis, que relata la titánica lucha entre los ejércitos invasores de la Alemania nazi y la Rusia comunista durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, manteniendo un nivel de dificultad y escala accesible para el jugador. Con solo 70 fichas de tamaño Ejército/Frente para toda la campaña y un apilamiento muy reducido, ofrece partidas rápidas pero realistas, favoreciendo al jugador con mentalidad estratégica y ofensiva.

La complejidad moderada del juego, el reducido número de ejércitos y el tamaño contenido del mapa facilitan el aprendizaje, permiten partidas ágiles y proporcionan una experiencia divertida.

En una hábil combinación entre los clásicos wargames basados en hexágonos y las modernas simulaciones impulsadas por cartas, No Retreat: The Russian Front mantiene un fuerte enfoque narrativo, transmitiendo la sensación de grandes maniobras, explotación de brechas y cercos a través de las vastas estepas y bosques de Rusia.

  •     6 escenarios históricos: BARBARROJA 1941, OPERACION AZUL 1942, URANO 1943, CIUDADELA 1943, BAGRATION 1944 y HACIA BERLÍN 1945.
  •     LA CAMPAÑA BARBARROJA 1941-45.
  •     Un mazo de 55 cartas para cada gran potencia. Úsalas como eventos o como recurso para distintas acciones (mejorar, transportar por ferrocarril, reorganizar, contraatacar, etc.).
  •     Sistema por turnos con una escala de 1-3 meses por turno y diferentes fases: robo, organización, movimiento, combate y suministro.
  •     Tabla de combate asimétrica.
  •     Efectos del terreno y del clima.

Una elegante y fácil guía en pantalla te acompañará durante cada secuencia de juego y te ayudará a comprender mejor los matices y la profundidad de las decisiones y estrategias disponibles.
