Dev Update | Open Playtest & Name Change!
Thu, May 21, 2026

Hey bush flyers,

We have the first official Deadstick OPEN Playtest happening this weekend 🥳 This means everyone who has signed up will get access from Friday 22nd May [11:00AM BST] to Tuesday 26th May [11:00AM BST]. For this playtest we will be using Steam playtest functionality so everyone who has signed up here will get access.

If you have not taken part in a playtest before you will receive a notification email to let you know the playtest is live - you will then be able to download, jump in and play the playtest build. If you have played in any of our previous closed playtests you won't receive a notification but the game will be available to download in your Steam Library.

Playtest FAQ

Can I stream or post video content from the playtest?

Yes! Feel free to share links to these in our Discord too :)

I played the previous closed playtest and there is less content, is this right?

Yes, the idea of this playtest is it gives us an opportunity to essentially test what would be coming in a future Demo of Deadstick.

Where can I leave feedback and/or bug reports?

Please make sure you're sharing as much feedback as possible via our feedback form or our bug reporting form.

Form 1 - Report a Bug: A very short form to submit information on a specific issue

Form 2 - Playtest Survey: This form has questions about what you like and dislike about the contents of the playtest.  This is designed to be filled in once.

Note: We will add link to these surveys when the playtest goes live.

Form feedback is very important for us, as a very small team it makes it much easier for us to collate your information.

We are also setting up a space on Discord for additional bugs and feedback, but we do recommend filling in the forms where possible.

Does the playtest have HOTAS support?

        Yes.

Deadstick: Bush Pilot Simulator - Rename

We have yet to update the Steam page but you may notice when jumping into the Playtest the new name & logo - Deadstick: Bush Pilot Simulator - and probably have some questions! This is just a small change to the title to better reflect what the game actually is. Bush Pilot puts the focus on you - your career, your decisions, - rather than just the act of flying. Nothing about the game's scope or direction has changed, we just felt the new name does a better job of telling that story.

Thanks everyone, we are super happy we are finally able to share an open playtest with you all, and cannot wait to see what people think of this first peek behind the curtain on the game.

Dev Update | Introducing Region 3 & Demo Progress
Thu, August 27, 2026

Hey folks,

Thanks so much for your patience while we ran a bunch of playtests and have been prepping for a Demo launch. Our plan is to launch the Demo soon, we still need to do a bit more testing and as soon as it's ready we'll make sure we shout about it everywhere.

For those of you who did jump into our playtests, we wanted to say a big thank you, your feedback has been critical to us continue to shape Deadstick.

We will be we FsimUK on October 10 & 11 where attendees will be able to get hands on with Deadstick set-up with a Flight Sim rig.

Next up we'd like to introduce you to Region 3
We have our previous looks at Region 1 (Waking) and Region 2 (Redshore), so let us talk about Riverine.

Riverine occupies the heart of the Island's southern half, nestled in a basin between some of the island's tallest mountain ranges. Surrounded by Redshore to the south and east and Waking to the west, this lush central region forms a natural crossroads for pilots travelling between the warmer, more hospitable southern biomes and the harsher wilderness beyond the mountains to the north.

This is a landscape carved and defined by water. Rivers, lakes, channels, and winding waterways cut through the valley, creating a patchwork of wooded hills, fertile lowlands, peninsulas, and small islands. At the centre of it all lies Hammerhead Island, home to Eastell, the seat of the islands government and the region's only major airport.

Eastell rests at the threshold of the Cursor Peninsula, on the banks of the Caraway River as it flows north from Redshore. As the river reaches the heart of the region, it gives way to a complex network of waterways, including the Guttermouth River. Follow its currents and you'll find Guttermouth Fork, a well-travelled shipping checkpoint for cargo moving inland, before the river continues past Darnbrough and spills out into the Drowned Inlet.
