Mission Summary :

May 3rd, 1993

Countries of Moratia and Mercia were part of a united Peoples’ Democratic Republic of Rastavia during long years of the Cold War. But with the fall of the communist block in the Easter Europe the bonds that held several of Rastavian Rublics together began to break loose. Over long years of communism  Mercia was exploiting other republics, which was partially driven by economy and partially by historical animosities between the countries, reaching as far as the 16th century.
Old animosities, held back by the oppression on communist rule, started to surface quickly in the early ‘90s and soon separatists movements in each country were growing stronger.  Being the biggest country of Rastavia, Marcia was the only only on that wanted to maintain former order. It lacked major natural resources and most importantly, unlike other republics, it was the only one without access to the sea - the primary source of commerce for the country and shipments of natural resources that were so badly needed during the transformation period.

In December last year,  Solania, was the first country of the Rastavian Republic to declare independence. The declaration was recognised by the UN and general public opinion in Western Europe. As one may expect, it encouraged other former republics to step on the path to independence. In November elections to Moratian government separatist party gained overwhelming majority in the regional governments and started reforms that were aimed at breaking from the  Rastavia. People went our on the streets and occupied major public squares in support of the reforms. In March the governed proclaimed its new constitution and declared independence. Just like Solania, it was supported by the international community and openly condemned by Mercia and other countries of the former communist block.

Soon events started to unfold very quickly. Last month Mercia ordered a general mobilisation in reaction to the “violation  of international agreements” , as they called our declaration of independence, and claimed that it was unlawful. Therefore, actions had to be taken to bring back the old order.  Our intel discovered that Mecia started moving its mechanised units closer to the border. Today morning all diplomatic means failed and Mercian forces crossed the border. They broke through our foreword outposts quickly and are heading towards the capital.

1) SITUATION:

a) Enemy:
Our forward reports indicate that 214th Motorized Rifle Battalion is heading our way but there are chances that their were weakened during clashes with our border outposts.  Since both countries were part of the same  republic before, we have nearly the same equipment. Watch your fire because they use the same units as our army

b) Own:
The Task Force:

2 platoons of T-72 M1s (TTS)
1 platoon of BMP-2s
1 platoon T-55s in Koprivnica arriving in approx. 30 mins
1 platoon BTR-60s in Koprivnica arriving in approx. 30 mins
1x BMP-1 Ambulance
2x Supply Trucks
1x Fuel truck

c) Attachments and detachments:

We have lost contact with our artillery units. Currently there’s no artillery support available.

We have two Mi-24 on standby once the weather clears up sufficiently. 

2) MISSION:

Your mission is to advance to suitable positions and defend against enemy attack. They cannot cannot take the town of Koprivnica as it is a strategic choke point on the way to our capital. Our forward reports indicate that 214th Motorized Rifle Battalion is heading our way but there are chances that their were weakened during clashes. Secondary objective is het defence of the  airfield , which is a base of our Hind squadron.
 
3) EXECUTION:

At your discretion commander.

4) TERRAIN AND WEATHER:
The terrain in the western part  of the the AO is difficult hilly with thick forest unsuitable for armoured units operations. The remaining part of our sector is rural with some trees but should offer good defence positions all along the front.

We have low cloud base at the moment with some light rain but we are expending the weather to clear up within an hour which would allow us to use our air support.
