Discussion on Churchill versus Tiger in Tunisia.

It is interesting to note that Churchill was not always easy meat for the prowling Tiger. Partly due to its thick frontal armour and maneuverability on hilly terrain. In fact, the first Tiger tank captured in Africa was disabled by a Churchill tank. The Tiger was abandoned because the Germans couldn't fire the gun - Churchill rounds had hit and shattered the loader's hatch and another had deflected off the underside of the gun, jamming the turret, and clipped the armour vent housing, causing internal damage near the driver. Documented here.

One lucky shot was enough to shake the confidence of the Tiger crew despite its armour superiority

That would be the Bovington Tiger - the very same Tiger used for filming the 4 Shermans versus 1 Tiger tank battle in Fury. Ahem, Brad Pitt. That movie made history, not because of the awful ending, but because it was the first time a real working authentic Tiger tank was used in a war movie.

I found this 40+ minute definitive documentary on the Churchill featuring WW2 ex-tanker veterans and historians
