Bohemia Interactive Simulations and SASimulations Announce Integration of Flex-Air with VBS IG

FLEX-Air with VBS will provide cost-effective, validated flight models for VBS IG

Orlando, FL - Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of game-based simulation software, and SASimulations, an Australia-based software developer, announced that the two companies have integrated FLEX-Air with VBS IG, to provide a holistic desktop flight simulation with many advanced features. In this configuration, FLEX-Air acts as the host simulation and seamlessly drives VBS IG channels to provide high fidelity out-of-the-window and sensor displays.

FLEX-Air from SASimulations is a flexible, game-based, multi-seat flight simulation platform. FLEX-Air provides features normally found on dedicated flight simulator products such as advanced cockpits, flight models, weapons, UAVs, and sensors.

“What really set FLEX-Air apart is flexibility,” says SASimulations’ Lead Developer, Andrew Stunell. “You can design your own cockpit layout, develop new weapons, configure the flight model for you exact needs, or add new pages to existing Multi-Function Displays. Every element of FLEX-Air is configurable by the customer, even the sensor models.”

FLEX-Air enables users to get a pilot in the loop quickly, using one of the many pre-built aircraft, including F/A-18E/F, F-15E, AH-64, V-22 and many more. All FLEX-Air aircraft come with front and back seats out of the box.

VBS IG is a new class of game-based image generator, supporting out-the-window scenes, advanced sensor views and high-fidelity geo-specific visual databases, from desktop to part-task trainers to full-mission simulations. Initially developed for the U.S. Army’s largest vehicle and mechanized unit training program, VBS IG also provides synchronized multi-channel support for replication of events within the virtual environment.VBS IG perfectly correlates with VBS3, allowing seamless interoperability between VBS3 units on the ground and FLEX-Air aircraft.

“The integration of VBS IG into FLEX-Air means that users can leverage high fidelity flight simulation with realistic flight models, sensors and interactive cockpits,” said Pete Morrison, BISim’s Co-CEO. “This provides a cost-efficient way to provide more training opportunities for aircraft mission simulation, pilot-in-the-loop close air support training as well as collective, combined arms training.”

The initial integration of Flex-Air with VBS IG is on display at I/ITSEC 2015, and will be publicly available from March 2016.
