Steel Beasts ProPE - Peeking Out of a Defilade

In this case I wanted to explore something an acquaintance told me about how the Bundeswehr envisioned defensive tactics. It is not a secret that Bundeswehr defensive tactics look more like a series of well-timed counterattacks. One has only to read 90 year old Truppenführung to figure out this particular vision about the defense. But what surprised me was my friends' story about laying out a minefield.

About This Content

In 1980, at the beginning of the war, the Iraqis main efforts focused on capturing of Khuzestan - the main oil-producing region of Iran. They managed to take control of a significant territory in this region, a large port and refinery center Abadan was also besieged. However, the protracted battle for Khorramshahr and Susangerd cities led to the fact that the Iraqis were no longer able to capture the two next major Iranian cities - Dizful and Ahvaz, but only besieged them. Destruction of a major Iraqi group between Ahvaz and Susangerd became the main goal of the first major Iranian counteroffensive named Operation "Nasr" (Victory). The main role in the operation was assigned to the 16 and 92ArmBde units. Also, IRGC and militia units were brought to participate in the operation.

• Two operations - 6 and 5 turns for each side (Iran and Iraq), dedicated to the offensive of the Iranian troops in Khuzestan.
• Precisely recreated area at the middle between the rivers Karkheh and Karkheh-Kor, 70 sq. km wide.
• Historical organizational structure of units at the time of the operation...

The Flames of War tourney was set in the Late War period, and a Saga tournament in the Age of Crusades. By the way, if you want to know how Saga works, you can check this article!

(A note: the Cornaredo Tournament was opened only to three-dose vaccinated people, and we wore masks all time. We just pulled them down for some photos).

First, the gadgets and the sponsors.

I like the idea of each player returning home after the tournament happy and, possibly, with a small gadget or two. Something unique that they can use in their future games. For FOW players, I created three tokens for Attack, Defence, and Manoeuvre. These tokens can be used when a FOW game starts and the two...

Desert Storm mission. Note the key strokes shown on the bottom right section of the screen.
Useful for 1990s-era DOS games, like Tornado, which make extensive use of keystrokes.

Might be a nice way to meet up with the Tornado international diaspora (if such a niche segment of gamers and Tornado enthusiasts exists).

In the screenshot above,
"a x 2" means I pressed the "a" key two times.
"= x 21" means I accelerated by pressing and holding down the "=" key 21 times (repeatedly).

I am using a keyboard utility named Carnac which is free and allows me to display ANY combination of keystrokes on the screen. A useful...
