Team Yankee Back in Print

The unforgettable Team Yankee novel, by Harold Coyle is back in print. Besides the Kindle version, which has been around for a while, now you can pre-order it in a physical book by Casemate Publishers.

Last week my son and I visited Historicon 2016 (a miniatures gaming convention) and dropped by For the Historian's stand.

For the Historian's stand at Historicon 2016. That's where I found just a couple of copies of Team Yankee. Thanks to the owner for saving me one.

Historicon is always a great convention. We usually go for one day and hang around gaming tables and stands, even when we don't play at all.

Coming back to Team Yankee, the new edition is revised and expanded. I am re-reading the book yet again, and I am hoping to reach those passages and corrections.

Cheers,

Point Of Attack 2

Part of the TACTICAL STUDIES SERIES

"Ultra-Realistic" Modeling

HPS Simulations, working with the United States Air Force Office of Scientific Research, is proud to announce the release of Point of Attack 2, a Scott Hamilton simulation.

POA2 is a modern tactical level simulation that depicts combat over a wide range of circumstances and levels, from platoons and individual vehicles to company or higher sized units. It features complete depiction of supporting artillery, air strikes, electronic warfare, engineer, chemical warfare, helicopter, naval, and psyop units, network communications, and satellites.

Units are depicted with official NATO symbology. Scenarios include Germany, Korea, Southwest Asia, and the US Army's National Training Center, along with hypothetical terrorist attacks on US soil.

Details
POA-2 is not a "beer-and-pretzels" type of game, though it does include user-settable modes that allow it to be played in a more relaxed manner. Instead, POA-2 is:

Exactingly realistic, using rigorous physics and empirical material properties in firing, damage, sighting, communications, and weather modeling.

Profoundly detailed, including individual round calculations,...

Scourge of War Waterloo: Quatre Bras - Review

A smaller battle than Waterloo, packed with historical quality and nail-biting Napoleonic warfare, Quatre Bras is not only a great wargame but a tour de force on generalship and history.

Technical specifications
Scourge of War Quatre-Bras
Add-on for Scourge of War: Waterloo
by NorbSoftDev
Published by Slitherine/Matrix Games
Digital Download: U$ 19.99
Also available on Steam

Scourge of War is a 3D continuous time, tactical/grand tactical wargame. I had the pleasure of reviewing the Waterloo edition a while back.

Quatre-Bras is the latest DLC for Scourge of War Waterloo and includes 5 scenarios where the player commands either Allied or French forces. The commands given to the player are brigades (1 scenario, Allied side), divisions (2 scenarios, Allied and French), and Corps (2 scenarios, Allied and French).

In both scenarios where the player is in command of Corps, the typical challenges of command and proper use of tactics of the era are unrelentlessly evident.

Scenario 5 puts the player in the role of the Duke of Wellington. The scenario lasts 3 hours of simulated time and starts at 2:00 PM. The forces available short at the...
