This is a D.O.W. exclusive. There is a new Beta for Tigers unleashed.

This is a beta patch. All the usual caveats apply. You might get errors, lock-ups or crashes. Please report if you do. Do not download and install this patch if you do not accept that issues can arise.

Please give feedback if you have any suggestions or issues.

Some folks reported problems with the Windows Installer last time due to having the update already installed. I increased the version this time so hopefully it will just replace the exiting one automatically, but if it doesn't and you get an error message, you'll need to uninstall the Tigers Unleashed (Update) installation manually (Control Panel | Programs).

But don't uninstall the main program, or you'll be hosed!

You must have an existing install of Tigers Unleashed. Run the TU update installer into the same directory.

Here is the direct email for the dev scott@hpssims.com.

IL-2 Battle of Moscow

This one was released a couple of weeks back as a standalone sim or as a DLC for Battle of Stalingrad (Steam version).

It's good to be back in the "Rata" (I-16), the nimble rascal in which I spent so many hours of flight simulation back when Oleg Madox was in the corner office.

Machine guns were not enough for these German tanks.

Battle of Moscow includes new planes and a new slice of the huge Eastern Front. This is the city of Rzhev, which witnessed its share of slaughter. Both fall and winter versions of this map are included.

German rocket launchers near Nefedevo. Note the rocket's smoke trails arching towards their target.

Introducing Wargame Design Studios.

We would like to officially announce the formation of Wargame Design Studio (WDS).

WDS is composed of industry veterans with experience in building games for the grognard war gamer.

WDS will be initially focused on the John Tiller Panzer Battles game system and has the right to build and modify the game code as required. This is the first time that John has licenced his game code for external commercial use. Any resulting titles will be published by John Tiller Software. To drive change in the game code, Robert Osterlund (Berto) is joining WDS as lead programmer and architect. Berto has been working with the Campaign Series Legion to update the Campaign Series games published by Matrix Games. Berto will continue to work with both design studios.

The team at WDS have previously published Panzer Battles – Kursk the Southern Flank, Panzer Battles – Normandy, Panzer Campaigns – Kharkov '43 and Panzer Campaigns – Moscow '42.

We are working on a number of projects currently. The third Panzer Battles title is set in the Desert and the official campaign covered will be announced soon.

We are also working on a Demo that will be available for free. The initial...

Old School Tactical by Flying pig games Review

While I own a fair number of board games, I have never done an unboxing, let alone a review of one. My reviews up until now have been of digital wargames. So in a sense this is like coming home. My purchases of boxed wargames have mostly been of older games with a few newer ones here and there.

I have not really been that much of a fan of tactical games, since in my youth we played a lot of what I call 'squad argument'. I don't remember that much playing, but I do remember a lot of arguing. Give a man with a pocket protector a set of wargame rules, and he turns into an armored warrior on the side of right. I am, however, an equal opportunity gamer. I'll give pretty much any game a try. I will do the unboxing etc. with the game components and also use a very well done vassal port of the game.

Flying Pig Games is the board game company that has brought us Old School tactical. They also publish, among others, 'Night of Man' a tactical futuristic game, and '65' a game about the early battles in Vietnam. Yaah! magazine that is up to issue six now, is also published by them. It contains a game in every issue. They are also doing a kickstarter...
