How to Ruin a Tank Battle Position - Combat Mission Shock Force

Do you remember Combat Mission Shock Force?

In a rare example of early victory, I attacked with two platoons of Abrams tanks. My objective was in an area that was being used as a withdrawal route by Syrian Republican Guard armored units.

Moving forward and firing from the hip ( :) ), the US armor moves forward into their battle positions.

Complete and utter destruction. Those T-55s didn't have a chance against my Abrams.

This battle position (1st Platoon) had the 1st Platoon cleaning up Syrian armor like there was no tomorrow. Formation was a tad tight, but it was working.

Until I did this ...

Mirage M-2000Cs for DCS World - This Will Come in Handy!

RAZBAM's initial roll into the runway of the DCS virtual World was not as bad as other third party's, but not as great as Belsimtek's (Tiger II, Mig 15 bis, F-86 Sabre, MI-8, UH-1H Huey).

Take off towards a BVRish engagement against a Mig 21bis.

Problems with the radar loosing lock and the modelling of the 530 radar-guided missiles and others plagued the initial beta release of the M-2000C. But the virtual bird was and continues to be exhilarating to fly. Its ability to climb is just out of this planet (pun not intended). It was a pity, because the radar is supposed to keep lock on targets below the aircraft, and in real life the 530Ds can be shot at those targets ... Imagine that: outclimb bandits, and drop missiles on them from above!

In this BVR (sorta, the range was kind of not so big) engagement I detected a bandit (with lots of help. Thanks, AWACS!) with the radar: is the "V" Chevron with a 27 on it. I later locked it.

Once locked, I started a climb. Not very aggressive, but I ended up some 4,200 ft above the Mig-21 at the time of firing the 530 missile.

Tacview of the engagement, right before...

Heroes of the Red October - My New Steel Beasts ProPE 4.004 Scenario

The 39th Guards Motor Rifle Division at its best in this single player scenario for Steel Beasts ProPE 4.004.

A detachment of the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Division (2 T-72 tank companies, 1 BMP-2 rifle company under your command) has to brush aside a US Cavalry Troop that is trying to delay the Soviet's advance.

This is a single player scenario against a US computer opponent.

I apologize in advance for the NATO maneuver/tactical graphics and for any issues with the scoring. This scenario will be updated based in feedback and amount of downloads.

The tactical situation.

This is the briefing:

1) SITUATION:
a) Enemy:
An ENY Cavalry Troop (+) is attempting to delay the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Division's westward advance through Route I-270.
b) Own:
3rd Tank Battalion (minus one tank company) and one company of the 2-3 Motorized Rifle Battalion are the only forces available for the task of dislodging the ENY's positions in OBJ Goliath and OBJ Achiles.
c) Attachments and detachments: NONE.

2) MISSION:
Secure OBJ Goliath, OBJ Achilles, and destroy ENY forces in order to avoid future interference...

Steel Beasts ProPE 4.0 - The Roadblocks to Walloonia

This post is entirely fictional and makes no political statements. Please refrain from reading too much into the stuff written here. It's just a game.

Sometime in the near future, some 2 miles south from the residential area of Boitsfort (Brussels).

NATO is crumbling as Belgium descends into a political chaos. Banded arms based in Wallonia -backed by the French government- are quickly solidifying against what they perceive as a wide open right wing extremism held by the majority of the Flemish people.

In this vignette, the "Jagers te Paard" Battalion is moving south from Flanders towards Wallonia. Their mission is to link up with the Belgian Light Brigade. The avant garde is a section of Pandur vehicles.

The view from the gunners' target acquisition system. Visible through the foliage, two main battle tanks are positioned down the highway.

Off course, the Pandur can't cope with heavily armored vehicles. Under the cover of one of the hills, the infantry is ordered to dismount and secure a perimeter.

A Javelin ATGM is ordered forward to deal with the two enemy tanks.

Command/Launch Unit (CLU) view of the tank...
