I didn't see this one coming, but it arrived yesterday and I am so excited to see two particular improvements to the virtual tactical combat world of Combat Mission.



Russian infantry treating a building corner with great respect and appreciation: the new update features an automatic "peeking around corners" which allows a careful recon in the unforgiving urban environment. From Combat Mission Black Sea.

It is a paid update ($10.00) for each of the most recent titles (Fortress Italy, Red Thunder, Battle for Normandy, Black Sea and The Last Blitzkrieg). You can bundle all five for $25.



Another new command is "hull down". This command works along a target area: the armored vehicle will deploy in a hull down position as seen from the target.

Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HAVOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.)

Summer of 1986...

1) SITUATION:
a) Enemy:
A depleted Soviet force is attacking towards Rothenkirchen to cut the road and rail lines between the 2 battalions on either side of us. Enemy is estimated to be no more than a reinforced company. Given the importance of Rothenkirchen, don't be surprised if even this small force has some artillery with it.

b) Own:
We have just 66/A, 6 Leopard 1A3 tanks, and 3 Marder 1A2s. 66/A and 1-1/A have mine plows.
2 platoons of light infantry got to 2 different towns. One of them is guarding our right flank, the other one is in the town to our NE to serve as a delaying force. They reported that abatis obstacles magically sprang up overnight at at least several bridges. We will need to use our bridgelayers.
We know that one other light infantry platoon got to a delaying position to the NE, but we don't know where they went because they didn't have enough time to fix their radios first. Amazingly, they were last...
