JUST FLIGHT Stinson L-5 Sentinel

Compatibility: Flight Simulator X, FSX: Steam Edition, P3D v4, P3D v3, P3D v2, P3D v1

Home page

The Stinson L-5 is typical of the type of aircraft developed during WWII for duties such as liaison, artillery spotting, photo-reconnaissance and casualty evacuation. Rugged and dependable, the design is a true 'work horse', showing little to no concern for aesthetics and equipped with no unnecessary embellishments. It simply does what it says on the tin.

The L-5 was dubbed 'The Flying Jeep' and, along with the Stinson L-1 Vigilant, was the only other American liaison aircraft of WWII that was purpose-built for military use. Other types were used, of course, but they tended to be converted from existing commercial designs such as the Piper Cub.

Nearly all Perspex, the cockpit area affords excellent visibility in all directions and the large door windows fold down to give uninterrupted viewing below. The design was created to be multi-functional and versions of the L-5 were produced to operate as air ambulances and carry small amounts of freight, munitions and other cargo. Its primary use was as a front-line liaison aircraft and artillery spotter.

DoW Life Is Feudal Update

The release of the MMO for LIF should be this month. I have early access and have chosen the Roleplayer server Epleland in the EU. I have discussed with the devs about possible lag. They assured me that NA players have no issue with this server. This server best suits my style of play and I believe tmany in this group will agree.

This is an official server with official admin/GM's. So no worrying about losing your character :grump

CONINGTON AIRFIELD

An excellent base for your GA fleet!

Compatibility: Flight Simulator X, FSX: Steam Edition, P3D v3, P3D v4

Official page

Conington is home to Flying Club Conington, to which G-BOZI (PA-28-161 Warrior II), G-BGKU (PA-28R Arrow III), G-BGAE (C152) and G-GCCL (Duchess) belong. These aircraft have all featured in our in-house developments so we thought it was high time we brought a high-quality rendition of the airfield to Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D.

Conington, otherwise known as Peterborough Business Airport (ICAO: EGSF) is a privately owned airfield located in the UK county of Cambridgeshire, six miles south of Peterborough and twenty miles north-west of Cambridge. The airfield started life as RAF Glatton, built in 1942 and used by the USAF B-17 Flying Fortress bombers throughout WWII. The airfield was mothballed by the RAF after the USAF left at the end of WWII, but it saw activity again with GA flying from the 1970s onwards until Flying Club Conington took over in 2000.

The airfield is equipped with a licensed 987-metre asphalt runway (10/28) with a 100m overshoot and an unlicensed 800-metre concrete runway. JET A-1 and AVGAS fuel, a hard apron area and grass area...

Command Ops 2 - The Sharp End Gaming Blog's Alternative Scenario for Red Devils Over Arnhem

A good wargaming session with the legendary Command Ops 2 engine was long overdue and Chris from the Sharp End Gaming blog offered the perfect reason to strap my paratrooper helmet and get command the Red Devils at Arnhem.

The above video briefly describes the scenario. But I recommend to read Chris' post at his blog to understand the rationale for this scenario. In a nutshell, a variation of the 9 day long stock scenario which is shorter (2 days) and has all the brigades (including the Polish) ready for action very early during the scenario. It's more playable but still will demand a lot from your commander's skills.

Cheers

JC
