BMW Rolls-Royce Power Plant for the Boeing 717

The BR715 engine has been selected to power the 717-200, the newest model in the Boeing fleet. The engine is a member of the BR700 family, which has a thrust range of 14,000 to 23,000 lb, and is produced by BMW Rolls-Royce GmbH, a joint venture company founded in 1990 by BMW and Rolls-Royce. Derived from a number of successful Rolls-Royce power plants, the engine is designed specifically to meet the rigors of high-cycle operation that the 717 will encounter.

The BR715 engine was designed to accommodate this and other operator requirements through the following characteristics:

1. Proven design and operation.

2. Minimal environmental impact.

3. Efficient and reliable performance.

4. Ease of maintenance.
