Dev blog #195
22.06.2018

Dear Pilots and Drivers!

We start this Dev Blog with a somber reminder that 77 years ago, on June 22, 1941, German troops, under the control of the Nazi regime in Berlin, launched the largest invasion in the history of warfare. They crossed the Soviet Union border in a surprise blitzkrieg attack obliterating the non-aggression pact signed between Germany and the USSR. This escalation of WWII would forever change the history of the USSR and the rest of the world. Modern history still to this day is divided into 'before' and 'after' the war. The German war machine was powerful, effective, modern and technologically advanced. Its soldiers were highly motivated and exceptionally trained. Operation Barbarossa was planned by the best minds of the German general staff. The plan was for three army groups, 'North', 'Center' and 'South' to smash the USSR in just 5 months with the help of the cavalry of the new age - the air force.

This outcome may have seemed inevitable if not for the tenacity of the Soviet people and military. Surprisingly for the German High Command, as Barbarossa rolled on and early victories showed Soviet unpreparedness, the Soviet resistance began to...

Warhammer 40,000: Gladius

Astra Militarum units preview
The Astra Militarum, commonly known as the Imperial Guard, is the primary fighting force of the Imperium of Man. Across a galaxy of a hundred billion stars, there must be billions of Guardsmen at least – yet even the Departmento Munitorum on Terra, which oversees this immense force, has no real idea of how many troops there are at any one time. A safe estimate is to say that there are millions of regiments.

In Warhammer 40,000: Gladius the Astra Militarum is one of the four factions you can play as. Its strengths are, of course, its huge numbers, its mighty vehicles and its fortifications.

The Astra Militarum can field inexpensive ranged infantry. They can field a lot of Guardsmen who suffer from low morale, but who cares about low morale when you can just overcome any enemy with your sheer numbers? And you can always use your Lord Commissar to remind them of their duty...

If you need more punch you can decide to send in the Heavy Weapons Squads which will pierce enemy armour with krak missile launchers, or you might want to deploy some Bullgryns: carrying shields and power mauls they are mighty melee units.

The Astra Militarum on Gladius...

About This Content

In the summer of 1969 the situation worsened significantly in the Kazakhstan sector of the Soviet-Chinese border, defended by the Uch-Aral border guard detachment (near Dzhungar Gates area). On August 12, border guards at observation posts of the "Rodnikovaya" and "Zhalanashkol" outposts (BOPs) spotted movement of individual groups of PLA soldiers on the Chinese side of the border. General-Lieutenant Merkulov, the Chief of the Eastern border guard district, suggested the Chinese side to have a meeting to discuss the situation, but there was no answer.

On August 13 night, using favorable terrain, the Chinese covertly concentrated a group of up to 30 soldiers on their territory near the border opposite ht. "Kamennaya". Two more groups of 30 people each were stationed on the flanks of the disputed area: one - opposite 39th, and the other - opposite 40th border marks, and the reserve group of up to 60 people - at the BOP "Terekty".

• Two operations for the USSR border guard and the People's Liberation Army depicting a most realistic version of events.
• One operation...
