Update
25 May 2024

From the dev:

We're happy to announce that we've sent out the feature complete (beta) build to the Collector's Edition customers.

We still have quite a few items to work on, but the list between here and release is shrinking quickly.

For a full changelog to see the progress, please see here: https://docs.invernyx.com/en/md11/changelog

Thank you for your continued patience - we're almost there.

This is the announcement you've been waiting for.

The MD-11 will be available for public download on July 2nd 2024.

Preorders will be stopped at the end of the Flight Sim Expo.

@MD-11 Presale Edition Customer will be able to preload early next week and on release there will likely be a small patch to activate the aircraft.

From the devs
06/27/2024

It is my utmost pleasure to announce to you all today that we have just began the preloads of the TFDi Design MD-11. To download your aircraft you will need to go into your Client Area and download our MD-11 Installer from your ‘Active Products and Services’  tab. All that is left to do then is set the download running!

I would like to acknowledge that we are a day late on the Preloads, this was due to some last minute tweaking and QA that needed to be done before we could be 100% happy to ship the build. This will NOT effect the release date of July 2nd.

**Can I fly it today?**

No, this is just the preload phase, on July 2nd a small update will be released that will activate your aircraft and allow you to take it into the skies! To obtain the update, simply run the installer again and it will automatically check for updates.

Collectors Edition already have access to this update, and will continue to receive updates early to help us with the testing and evaluation process.

**What happens on July 2nd?**

On July 2nd there will be a small update for the MD-11 Presale customers that will allow them to activate the aircraft and fly it!

If you have not purchased the presale then July 2nd will be like any product release day, once the aircraft is out you will be able purchase and download the aircraft.

**What happens after July 2nd?**

Once the aircraft is released, the work does not stop. We will continue to tweak and update the MD-11, the Pratt and Whitney engines will come shortly after the 2nd. We are estimating to have the Extended Simulation complete and released by the end of this year. However , as always, we will not rush it out to meet an arbitrary deadline.

TFDi Design MD-11 Released!
Tuesday, 2nd July, 2024

The TFDi Design MD-11 is now available!

A few moments ago, we pushed the update to the MD-11 that will activate it for all of our Presale customers and the aircraft is now available for purchase! After four and a half years of development, the team is proud to announce that the TFDi Design MD-11 is now available.

How much will it cost?
The pricing structure of the MD-11 will follow an a-la-carte system allowing you to purchase exactly what you want.

The base package will either be the Passenger or the Freighter and will be $69.99.
The expansion package (the variant you have not purchased already) will be $9.99.
The Extended Simulations package will be $4.99 (this is coming at a later date).

What happens next?
Work will continue on the MD-11 to squash any bugs that arise after release, we will also be working to bring the Pratt and Whitney engines to the sim as soon as possible. We will also be working on the Extended Simulation package which will add failures and give you an even greater depth of MD-11 simulation.

Where can I download liveries and the Paint Kit:
All of our official liveries and our Paint Kit can be downloaded from the Downloads section of the website.

Thank you for all of your support on this project - we wish you many happy flights in the TFDi Design MD-11!

MD-11 Status
Friday, 25th October, 2024

We've been working on a few significant areas of the MD-11, albeit a little more behind the scenes than usual. First up, we've been working with Echo 19 to overhaul the sound packages. There have been numerous improvements, including:

-Brand new recordings for the interior sounds.
    -Improved volume for mechanical sounds
    -Pack sound in the cabin
-Added location to cockpit sounds so they are no longer audible in the cabin
    -Fixed APU sound location
    -Improved ground roll sounds
    -Improved wind sounds
-Improved overall balance, stereo field, etc.

That update has just been made available to everyone, so we're happy to hear everyone's feedback over the coming days! Please note, most of these sound updates are MSFS-specific.

TFDi Design MD 11 New GE CF6 Sounds

Behind the scenes, art has still been hard at work on overhauling the exterior. The update is taking longer than expected because Ozzy has been going over the model itself with a fine-toothed comb. We've included a few pictures that show new enhanced physical detail on the models. Various improperly shaped parts have been improved, missing ports and smaller objects have been added, and the overall detail and mapping has been improved. It'll soon be off to Cameron and Miguel for the updated paint and texture work to round out the update.

2024 Development Wrap-Up
Monday, 30th December, 2024 23:17pm

As 2024 draws to a close we will take this opportunity to look back on the development cycle, the current state of our projects and what we will be aiming for in 2025.

MD-11:

2024 was a big year for the MD-11, the first half of the year saw us test and tweak the build with the help of our Quality Assurance team and the Collector's Edition. During this time, many features of the MD-11 were refined and polished to a state that meant we were happy to announce, on stage at FSExpo, that the MD-11 would release in July. After a successful release we turned our attention to fixing the bug reports that were coming in from our users. With the help of select members of the Collector's Edition, we devised a system where bugs could be differentiated from quirks of the MD-11. The phrase ?a McDingle Moment? was coined to describe something so quirky it seems like a bug but is really a feature!

Progress has been made on the FADEC for both the GE and PW engine variants by Giorgio. We believe that we are closer than ever to finding the sweet spot in the engine tuning that will resolve some of the bugs and get us into a position to release the PW engines in early 2025. In our October Dev-Update we mentioned the work that has been going on regarding the ILS/LOC/autoland performance. The update with these fixes is currently in the hands of Collector's Edition and we hope to have this published with any tweaking required as soon as possible.

We have already had one major update to the Art of the MD-11, and our team are currently working on another re-work of the exterior model and textures. We believe that these will allow the MD-11 to shine in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, and in FS24. It is not only the Artwork that is getting the love and attention, Tyler of Echo-19 has been continuously tweaking the sound package with the help of feedback from the users and the MD-11 Pilots we have on the team.

Please note, the above screenshots are still work-in-progress and meant to illustrate the overall detail, not the final quality.

It remains our firm intention to bring the MD-11 to FS24, however this will be done after we get to the end of our ?must fix? bugs as put forward by our QA team. We are unsure if FS24 compatibility will come as a free update, or as part of a paid upgrade, the amount of work required to have the aircraft fully functional in FS24 will determine this.

Using the MD-11 in VR
Wed, 18 Jun, 2025

The TFDi Design MD-11 does not yet officially support virtual reality, but a mod created by one of our quality assurance team members provides support for it.

By default, the TFDi Design MD-11 will have visual issues with the cursor in virtual reality. The "VR Cursor Fix" mod by Kilian fixes this with a simple, drag-and-drop mod to the model.

For the technically minded, our 3D model currently lacks a collision mesh and as a result, the simulator cannot project collisions for the cursor properly. We are working on native, first-party VR support but in the mean time, this mod provides pilots an interim solution.
