Mission Summary :
The IRIA has attacked into Iraq crossing and taking the city of Basra and Faw. They have seized the ports and supply routes into Iraq. Kuwait and Iraq have asked for assistance. Nato and US command have determined that for national security interests, regional allies, international supply, and open hostilities, that your force 3rd Brigade ABCT Team Iron of the 4th infantry Division will spearhead US and NATO forces. Brigade objective is to penetrate, and destroy as many forces of the front line of the IRIA 72nd Armored Division(+), push into the Division rear area, and force the 72nd to retreat out of Iraq, and away from the border. Brigade strength must be maintained at 40% of combat forces at all times, and if it drops below we will be forced to fall back to Iraq boundaries. Minimum success is to make the IRIA to return to Iranian boundaries. Moderate success is to push into Iran defeating the second line of forces, and reducing the 72nd to below 70% strength. Major success is to reduce enemy forces to 50% or less in the 72nd, and push into or beyond the third line of forces. Your brigade will be flanked to the North by 1st and 2nd brigade to keep any major flanking maneuvers from threatening that flank. Your forces will have responsibility of your Southern and Southeastern flank. You are required to “designate a force to secure that flank prior to missions, and cannot be from the previous mission. Terrain around Basra is mostly flat and sandy. The further east you travel, the more hills, and mountains you will run into. As you go, there will be increasingly more narrow avenues of approach, limiting your attack options, and allowing the enemy to better engage you.

92nd Armor Division IRIA has pushed into Iraq, and poised to continue into Kuwait. The reduction of US/NATO forces in the region have made it prime for takeover and the IRIA is going to fill the vacuum of the region. 1 Brigade 1st Battalion 92nd Armor is defending the major population center in the area. They have brought in the remaining mechanized forces south of the river, commandos, and a large amount of infantry.

1) SITUATION:

a) Enemy:
   The 1st Battalion 1st Brigade 72nd Armor Division is set in a defense in depth. Intel shows the surviving mechanized forces, and a large amount of infantry/commandos have increased the defenses in objective Bronze. They have artillery, anti-air,  and air assets available.

b) Own:
              Bravo 1-66AR, 3rd  Brigade, 4th Infantry Division (see TO&E) have been tasked with taking objective Bronze.

c) Attachments and detachments: 2x AH64, 6xUH60, 1-C-1-68 Armor.


2) MISSION:

1st Brigade 4th ID Team Iron is to attack NTL 150730GMT022016 to secure Objective Bronze, secure population centers, and supplies/resources. Team Iron will maintain pressure until all areas are secure, or you have taken 40% combat losses.


3) EXECUTION:

BTW, is the manning roster updated?  We lost an entire platoon of Challengers.  I'm sure the UK isn't happy about that...getting half of their armor force wiped out and all.

I've played out this mission on my own after the Challenger disaster (no pun).  We can do better  .

Unless some cheater give the Red side a battalion of T-90s...

We won, but barely.  Some of us learned some hard lessons on using infantry units in SB.  Which means we probably won't get to use them much anymore...heheh.  We bypassed OBJ Iron and Copper to focus entirely on OJB Bronze (City of Al-Amarah).  1 plt (that's me!) held down our far left flank, protecting the mortars while observing the southern part of the city, while the rest of the platoons marched northwest, did some damage to OBJ Iron, then proceeded to Al-Amarah.  Started losing some Bradleys, but the Leo's did well.  I began to slowly assault the southeastern tip of the city, lost a track + dismounts to a suicide bomber.  The main force pushed into the city, losing a bit more grunts but was securing the areas necessary for a victory.  I made an awesome TOW shot on a T-64, BURN!!!!   We ended up cutting the mission as we didn't have a clear End of Mission parameter set, but we calculated their remaining strength as insufficient enough to give us much more hell.
