Screen and Video Capture

For VBS3 versions 3.0 and later

This article was written using VBS3 3.8.1.

VBS3 enables screen and video capture from the character viewpoint, OME, and RTE.

1. Screen Capture

To take a screen capture, any of the following methods are available:

•   Press PrtScn or RShift + PrtScn to capture the current view with or without the HUD (in-game view) or the Editor UI (OME / RTE view).
Screen captures are stored in: <Windows Documents Folder>\VBS3\Screen
Change these default key settings from the Main Menu > Options > Controls page:
- Screenshot with UI - includes the HUD or the Editor UI.
- Screenshot without UI - does not include the HUD or the Editor UI.
•   The optional Debug Console Plugin includes a Camera Mode with screenshot capability and a screenshot pseudo-action. For more information, see Debug Console Plugin in the VBS3 Editor Manual.

2. Video Capture

Capture video using any of the following options:

•   Press LCtrl+R to start or stop recording the current view.
Screen captures are stored in: <Windows Documents Folder>\VBS3\video
The Record Video Tool can restrict recording capabilities to specified units.
Change these default key settings from the Main Menu > Options > Controls page:
- Start Recording
- Stop Recording

•   Record video as part of scripts using the captureStart and captureStop script commands.
•   Record an AAR file to capture a complete recording of all mission participants.
Use AAR Playback to playback the mission.
