Add a new user:• Adding a new user = Main menu > Records
When you start Steel Beasts it has an existing user "Lt Default". You need to create a new user. This is important as you will build up a record of your time with Steel Beasts. This record includes, amongst others, the following:
• Gunnery rating
• Hit percentage
• Major victories
• etc...
In Single Player mode the friendly AI skill level is taken from your rating. So if you have a rating of 70 then the friendly AI will also have that rating. This does not apply to multi-player. You can increae your Gunnery rating by practicing on the Tank range. Pracice makes perfect.
• Gunnery Practice = Main menu > Tank Range
Vehicle Choice:Pick 1 vehicle and stick with it. This will make the learning process easier as many of the veicles have different systems which are quite complex. Popular choices are:
• Leo2A5DK = Tank
• M1A2Sep = Tank
• M2A2 (ODS) = IFV
Once you have selected your vehicle then do a complete set of tutorials for that particular vehicle.
• Leo2A5DK = 24 part tutorial
• M1A2Sep = 21 part tutorial
• M2A2 (ODS) = 15 part tutorial
Difficulty SettingsThis will influence the quality of enemy forces, that is, the quality of their gunners and the likelihood of crews to spot you (=their reaction time).
• Settings = Low/Medium/High
Realism SettingsThis will on the lowest level activate a number of little helpers that will support you maintaining situational awareness, e.g. a crosshair to estimate where the gun is pointing when overriding the gunner in the M1, direction indicators for reference points, the laser tag marker on the map. These helpers will gradually disappear when increasing the realism level.
