I am currently uninterested in the missions that are in our ARMA3 sessions. The mission of Hearts and Minds has the ability to be very immersive, vast, complicated, and works on a multi-spectral level. It does not lend to us as a group IMHO. The problem we have with this mission is that it is too complex if done properly, has too many facets to contend with, and depending on when it is started there is either few enemy, or too many enemy. The current setup has us getting into one vehicle which would never happen in this type of conflict, and we basically run around arcade style shooting people up, and usually from long distance, or after we are engaged up close and personal. We are too inexperienced to conduct COIN operations, insurgent operations, and it lacks real life playable options for us. Real life Iraq and Afghanistan would have 4 or more vehicles with 4 or more people in them on a patrol, but we cannot field this many people. If we want people to play, for it to be immersive, like real-life, and fun we have to do something about the missions we are playing. We cannot continue to play a mission that requires 16+ players with only 4-7. My suggestions are as follows.
1. Small unit tactics most likely as special forces or those types of missions. 3-10 until we have more that play.
2. Missions that consist of 1 to 10 objectives. The lower the number the harder it is, and the higher the number the easier each will be. Other options here are to add movement to and from objectives, recon objectives, and others.
3. Mix up the type of missions to maybe special forces conducts a raid on a drug kingpins home and has to kidnap him. Maybe a force recon mission where you have to find the enemy. Maybe sneak in undetected to gather intel, and get back out without being detected, and then what do you do if you are.
4. We need to work on our small unit tactics, and not using ARMA3 as another Steel beasts with pretty graphics which it was and is not intended for. ( can work on some levels, but not just one vehicle.)
I am disappointed that we went from playing missions like the one that Durham made with the C130 drop, to what we have today.
Again this is my opinion, and I would just like to see something more realistic, and feasible for the immersion we all want.
