CodeMeter 8.00
Release Date: 2023-Nov-30
Operating Systems Windows, Linux, Mac OS X
Download Windows (112.15MB): Click Here

Info:
• As of October 13, 2023, security support for Windows Server 2012 R2 from Microsoft will end. Therefore, as of version 8.00 of CodeMeter, Windows Server 2012 will no longer be supported in Standard Support (FB89460).
• Version 7.60 is the last release of CodeMeter Runtime which includes CentOS 7 / Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Suse Linux Enterprise Server 12 in Standard Support. To purchase Extended Support, please contact your Wibu-Systems sales representative (FB89461).
• Starting with version 8.00 CodeMeter Runtime will be delivered only as a 64-bit application under 64-bit Windows operating system variants. Independent Software Vendors (ISV) using CodeMeter Binding or Runtime Extensions must compile and deliver their plugins for such systems as 64-bit (FB91817).
• Under macOS, the special system settings options (Preference Pane) for CodeMeter are removed. The functionality for stopping and starting the service is available via operating system commands, e.g. "sudo /bin/launchctl start com.wibu.CodeMeter.Server". The configuration offered there so far is possible via CodeMeter WebAdmin (FB92734).

Features:
FB80723: Installer: Runtime: macOS: CodeMeter Runtime for macOS by default now runs natively on macOS without Rosetta platform.

FB90958: Installer Linux: The installers for rpm now also contain the digest for the user data (payload). This is checked in particular on systems where the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) mode is activated.

FB90823: CodeMeter License Server: Starting with version 8.00, CodeMeter with CmReady will support SD cards. Card manufacturers can have their cards certified as CodeMeter Ready by Wibu-Systems. The necessary security functions are addressed via a card vendor-specific plug-in in order to bind a CmActLicense to this SD card and store the data on it. The CmActLicense is therefore portable and works across all operating systems. Several CmActLicenses can be stored on each SD card, for example for different software vendors; the number of available storage locations is a property of the SD card.

FB89764: CodeMeter License Server: CmActLicense: As a result of the further development of detection mechanisms, it can always happen that the detection of, for example, a VM changes from one CodeMeter version to the next. In the future, a CmActLicense will only break in these cases, if the current classification is not covered by the binding options initially specified by the Independent Software Vendor (ISV).

FB79948 : CodeMeter License Server: CmActLicense: The SmartBind binding process has been adapted for virtual machines running on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Virtual Windows or Linux systems are thus explicitly bound to binding values provided by Google.

FB90372: CodeMeter License Server: The binary of CodeMeter License Server is now protected by AxProtector CTP. During the integrity check at runtime, some steps that were necessary in the previous technology can now be omitted. In particular, this removes the need to use the cache, the allocation of which had in some cases negative effects.

FB90202: CodeMeter License Server: The default settings of the communication mode of WibuCm library and CodeMeter license server was set to IPv6. Customers and users who rely on 'shared memory' or IPv4 for technical reasons can set the setting for CodeMeter accordingly. The mechanism 'shared memory' will be removed from CodeMeter in the future.

FB88739: CodeMeter License Server: Denial entries in License Tracking are now also available in the case CodeMeter is accessed via CmWAN.

FB90997: CodeMeter License Server: CmActLicense: The detection of bhyve container was added.

FB89302: CodeMeter License Server: CmActLicense: CmActLicenses are now available in hardened form for boards with i.MX processor. Additional specific properties of the boards for i.MX processors are used for the license binding.

FB91841: CodeMeter License Server: Linux: Under Linux, CodeMeter now sets an intermediate status of "starting" when the daemon is started. Only when the license server has completed all start operations does the status change to "started". A prerequisite for this mechanism is the libsystemd.

FB93894: CodeMeter License Server: Linux: The CodeMeter lock file is now no longer written to /tmp but to /var/lock. This is in line with the Linux file system hierarchy standard.

FB90394: CodeMeter License Server: CmCloud: In container systems such as Docker, seats are now calculated for each simultaneously running container instance accessing a CmCloud container. For example, 10 instances running in parallel to calculate an image optimization occupy 10 seats, while the sequential execution of these 10 calculations occupies 1 seat.

Bugfixes:
FB85676: CodeMeter Installer: Linux: CodeMeter Lite: The user help in the rpm package for Linux has been removed to reduce the size of the installation package, similar to the deb package.

FB89418: CodeMeter License Server: CodeMeter Control Center: In CodeMeter Control Center CmActLicenses for a Runtime Extension were no longer displayed after a restart of CodeMeter License Server.

FB91644: CodeMeter License Server: The binding of CmActLicense in a Docker container has been improved and better hardened against unauthorized duplication.

FB88886: CodeMeter License Server: CodeMeter Runtime crashed in rare cases during log rotate of license logging.

FB83251: CodeMeter License Server: After a hard shutdown of the CodeMeter license server it could happen that an error occurred during the restart which led to an immediate shutdown of CodeMeter.

FB93152: CodeMeter License Server: The CodeMeter service stopped immediately after startup in a Sidecar container under Kubernetes.

FB85903: CodeMeter WebAdmin: The CodeMeter service stopped immediately after startup in a Sidecar container under Kubernetes.

FB85903: CodeMeter WebAdmin: In the License Tracking display in CodeMeter WebAdmin an incorrect date was displayed, if the time zone was before UTC+00.

FB92750: CodeMeter WebAdmin: In CodeMeter WebAdmin an update of the GO library was necessary because a security vulnerability was found there (CVE-2023-24538).

FB86663: cmu: In the case of several command options, the standard output text with version information etc. was not displayed in the output. Now this standard output text is also issued for all commands.

FB92662: cmu: The '-cmdust' and '-f' options did not work correctly, if the file system path in the '-f' option contained non-ASCII characters.
