racing car gearit

this is a game about car racing. its played with ordinary playing cards.

setup

first select 6 cards 1 to 6 of hearts, these represent what gear your in. now select 6 cards 1 to 6 of diamonds, these represent the racing line.

the rest of the deck, these are your track cards.

place the 6 heart cards in-front of you in order one to six, then place the 6 diamond cards in-front of you in order one to six.

how to play

at the start of the game you have two tokens per car ,place player tokens on the starting cards number ace of diamonds in the racing line, and at the bottom below one of hearts for neutral gear.

each turn

first both cars change gear if they want.

the leading car player draws the same number of cards as what gear your in from the track deck, if its not a picture card then its a normal straight track, so no turn. if its a Jack thats an easy turn, if its a queen its a medium turn, if its a king its a sharp turn.

if its not a turn you can change gear, by moving your token on the hearts cards.

if it is a turn, if its a Jack move your racing line token one higher on the diamonds cards, if its a Queen move your racing line token two higher on the diamonds cards,, if its a King move your racing line token three higher on the diamonds cards.

the player in the trailing car now adds to the cards drawn by the leading player upto what gear thier in from the track deck, if the player is in the same gear or a less gear he will remain the trailing car, but must apply the drawn track cards drawn by the leading car to the racing line if they are picture card turns that total what gear the player is in, but the cards that exceed his gear dont need to be applyed yet, but next turn you do. if the trailing player exceeds the gear of the leading car then now becomes the leading car.

now move your token down by three on the racing line, if you go below the ace on the racing line you stay on the ace.

if beyond the six on the racing line, you spin off the track and lose the race.

when you reach the end of the track deck thats one lap, you may want to play more laps or have a single lap race, whoever is the leading car at the last track card wins

it pays to be in low gears, if your in six gear and draw 6 picture track cards it would throw you off the track

its easier to be the trailng car, but its the race finish where you need to be the leader
