SIM SKUNK WORKS is..".. a group of experts simmers for many years acting into the flight simulation field. We are aircraft engineers, programmers, CAD specialists, experts in computer graphics, former real fighter pilots, both military and civilian aircrafts pilots, that have decided to pool their expertise to produce highest fidelity software for flight simulators."Sim Skunk Works PA200 'Tornado'This Sim Skunk Works PA200 'Tornado' is compatible with TacPack and vACMI and provides highly detailed models with features including Moving Map Display using real aeronautical charts, Terrain-Following Radar, Ground Mapping Radar, Spin Prevention system and RWE equipment.
VISUAL MODEL CHARACTERISTICS Highly detailed external model, fully animated
Highly detailed 3D internal model, fully animated
Equipped with 3D lights system, both internal and external.
High quality external/internal textures, bump, specular mapping and backing.
Light weight, frame rate friend model
Comes in two configurations: 'SOLO' and 'UBUNTU' optimized for multiplayer sessions.[/color]
OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEMSWhile most of the systems are generated conventionally within the simulator program, those that involve large data bases are generated externally in separate workspace. This means that they have almost zero effect of frame rates.
The externally hosted systems are:
Head Up Display (HUD)
Terrain
Following (TF)
TV TAB
Projected Map Display.
DocumentationThere is a published Flight Manual, AER.1F-PA200-1, dated January 1990 and an associated Performance Manual AER.1F-PA200-1A dated February 1992 for the Tornado, which are available from several sources on the internet.
These manuals were used in the design and development of the Sim Skunk Works Tornado.
This Operations manual is designed to contain enough information to allow full employment of the Tornado systems though in a much shortened way compared to the PA manual.
Procedure check lists are to be found in the Tornado Tablet viewable through the simulator drop-down menu View Instrument Panel, or at
http://www.simskunkworks.com/pa200tablet/ They are not repeated in the systems descriptions that follow, so for example where the HUD description starts with the aircraft on the runway, it is assumed that all necessary checks have been carried out.
Features:Below is a list of the most important features, some of which are unique to the SSW Tornado:
Moving Map Display using real aeronautical charts with super imposed airspaces, airports and navaids aeronautical layers; TPC charts can be used as well (England, Germany, Italy coverage)
Terrain-following radar linked to flight director and autopilot; TFR is based on real SRTM elevation data
Ground Mapping Radar with dynamically computed radar shadows
NAV auto steering mode
Dynamic Drag Index concept - external stores load/drop effect not only the weight but also the aerodynamic drag
Wing sweep between 25 and 67 affects the aerodynamic behaviour, changing the position of centre of lift and inertia moments as well
Spin Prevention system
RWE equipment
vACMI compatibility (free Download)
Supported weapons: - AIM9-L a2a missile
- MK82,MK82SE bombs
- GBU12 (vACMI only)
- AGM 88 HARM
- ASM AS42 Kormorn missile
Optimized 'UBUNTU' models for multiplayer to assure high FPS in online sessions
