Title: Play withSIX
Post by: wilso845 on August 05, 2015, 05:33:37 PM
Just thought i would ask if anyone here uses PWS (Play WithSIX)?

I have used it for many years when i was an ARMA 2 Nut and have now started using it on ARMA 3.

I find its benefits of updating all MODs and automatically placing and running the program.

Attached is a screen shot of a REPO i use for BOPE Realism server.

If people use this, steam, or any other updater, then there is a high possibility that the server will not have the same mod. Then there is a possibility that people will not be able to connect.

Are there any updates about the withSix-clients "Play with Six" and "Sync with Six"?

These apps look really promising and offer a lot benefit. But do they practically work fine and what about the recent compatibility to the steam-client?

I "know" the Devs from my time in the sixth-sense-community, when we were still playing "Operation Flashpoint" and then "Armed Assault" (1st ArmA) or longer before Pterodon´s "Vietcong". It was amazing. They were so much ahead of ArmA´s development when creating a more than 10 GB Mod with an updater and a dedicated server-access to have like more than 50 people MP COOPs, and the Mod already provided so much content that wasnt done by the Original until ArmA 2 and 3 were released. Even Bohemia Interactive themselves later directly cooperated with them, I guess.

So what I wanted to know is, if it is recommended to use the withSix client(s), even if playing ArmA#2 and ArmA#3 on steam?

We looked at "Play With Six" when we were organising our Arma sessions.

It was just easier for us to subscribe to the mod via Steam and have them all at the same version. Some groups however do find it useful, especially if the have customised or specific mods they use in their group play.

... but you didnt look at the newer client "Sync with Six" yet, right?

And finally, shouldnt it be possible to use both, for exemple withSix for Single-Player-Mods and steam for relevant community activities!?

I like to keep things simple. That is why I subscribe through Steam.
