What's your gaming pleasure this weekend? 25/05/18    :gamer

I have some forum work to do but...

Scourge of War: Waterloo:  THE most immersive game of its kind. It also has the best fog-of-war representation. The DOW group is the friendlies group out there. Win or lose, it is always a great experience.  :bonaparte

Flight Simulation    Messing with X-Plane 11 and P3D.  :pilotfly

IL-2 Battle Of X:  Nice WW2 action in the sky. :pilotfly

Swat 4 (SEF MOD): Great tactical team game.   :shooting-two-guns

Hopefully:
Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach
Grigsby's WITEII (new patch released)

RC helicopter flying:. Hopefully get out again this weekend  :sifone

What about you? Surely I am not the only one playing?   :Tumbleweed

DCS Hormuz map exploration

Post Scriptum

Toying with the idea of buying the QW 787 Dreamliner that just released for P3DV4, but with DCS Hornet releasing next week, I think I'll wait.

There are at least 3 of us with PS in the group. I know Wilso has played it

People are saying good things about the QW787 . There have been some bugs found but they are on it.

You should make sure your B717 was updated to the latest. A lot of improvements made  :thumbsup

My son is away for the weekend, so I have the games room to myself and will probably try and complete my 'Crossing of the Dnieper' scenario video, as I won't have Blood Bowl, or Heroes of the Storm raging in the background.

Finally!!

Hi guys,

sorry for that outburst,
the steps to put my discovery here were in the thousands (or something around):

Okay, what's my discovery? --> Extreme Landings by RORTOS (i finally figured out how to get to the free content, clicking through all this stuff)

1st recording a video with Windows 10 game recorder --> result 367MB file
2nd using handbrake 1st time (20 fps) --> 66 MB
3rd (2nd attempt with HandBrake) --> 10MB
4th uploading 10MB video file here --> failed try because of 1.0 or 1.5 MB restrictions yeah!
5th up to the last steps opening the 10MB file, choosing pictures, putting them into paint, putting them into paint again as 9 pictures, naming them, retrying ...

now... at least have a look :-D
(the video is way more awesome)

kind regards,
Tom

I'm trying this again, i do not upload somewhere else!
(using HandBrake once more with 5 FPS, very slow encoding, no sound and the logarithmic quality number 45 --> 913KB)

It still looks quite good, just don't watch it with VLC-player, but with the windows media player!  8)

EDIT: I still got the larger files, don't worry. And everyone can do those flight recording videos again and again.
(It IS easy to reproduce many airborne maneuvers!)

EDIT 2:
Review so far:
Quite good!
stalling, nice stall warning and stall recovery is nice and waaaayyyy too easy, you can accelerate this flying mule to 600 knots when diving from 28000 ft, you get free control for around 4.5 minutes, there are random crosswinds (direction+speed), random airports/ runways, no fuel restrictions (yuck),
you get even random system failures (though sadly just one at a time in the restricted free version)

sound is good as well (so to me completely unimportant as long as i've got my eyes ... open).

Touching anything else than the runway and the area beside it will result in a disintegrated plane (burstrupted sausage).

Watched it. You are flying it like a Tornado  :-*   I could almost hear the passengers screaming  :scared1

Looks fun. You should use OBS Free to record. And upload to youtube.

Thanks for posting  :thumbsup

I could take care of my passengers,
if i wanted, that is :-P

EDIT:
there is only time restriction, only one system will fail (though don't feel safe, I once got a right roll failure, that was interesting,
rolling right was slowed down to eternity, that's when you command your passengers to unfasten their seatbelts and
make them move to the desired side you want to roll towards ^^)

The climb rate is awesome!!!
Reverse Thrust is not, though i think it's because of this really FAT sausage.

EDITEDIT:
Rewatching my video, i figured, the music gets exciting when a threat gets serious and more severe.

2 problems/tasks/ quests remaining (forever):

"short runway" = braking distance task
"fast landing" = land in time task

Helpful hints, handy tips, guides-just EVERYTHING- would be very appreciated,
tough stuff sim!!

And just to rectify myself about "extreme landing": there IS fuel and you can jettison/ rebalance every drop in those right and left (wing)tanks.

Though I still despair with braking and landing FASTER!  >:(

The Dreamliner is definately in my top 3 list of next buy purchases.  I've been making a point to buy planes and flying them till proficiency until getting a new one.  With the hornet releasing there's no point getting the 787 and not touching it for 6 months while I'm totally consumed by the hornet.

I spent a ton of time recently with the 717, it's really come along nicely since release.  After flying the crj, the 717 feels like a Dreamliner.  I did a bunch of Hawaii flights in the 717, Hal has dozens of them that they use to connect all the inter islands.

I'm game for post scriptum but I have no way of knowing how to track down friends in the games interface, you probaly have to coordinate through teamspeak I'd assume.

I hear yah about the aircraft. We keep filling our virtual hangars. I really like the 717. Have you tried any of the Just Flight GA aircraft in X-Plane 11? What about the Zibo 737? The Zibo is an amazing mod for the default 737 https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/138974-b737-800x-zibo-mod-info-installation-download-links/

Not sure how Post Scriptum game coordination works. I will as wilso to look into it

I have the JF piper arrow for P3DV4.  For XP I have the Airfoil Labs C-172, that's it for me for GA.  I'm more into tube liners when I do these non military sims.

The ZIBO mod looks great, I've seen it in youtubes.  Only reason I haven't flown it is that I have the IXEG 737 for XP, so i'd just fly that.  If the ZIBO mod had come out 6months before it did, I'd probably would have never spent 70 bucks on the IXEG...lol.

Also the Photo scenery app in XP is insane, it's like ORBX in XP for free.  If your on a budget and have the time to mod / tweak, XP is the better sim.  I still fly P3D 90% of the time though, the total package is just better....but XP is catching up.

I'm interested to hear about the photo realistic for XP as for the Zibo Mod it's fantastic especially when using the Rift.

I like GA in X-Plane. There is a good "feel".

Scenery is OrthoXP. Beef uses it. It is free.

Oh! Well....that kind of scuppered my gaming goal for the weekend.

Just completed a 90 minute second episode of my 'Crossing the Dnieper' video, only to discover that for some perverse reason Shadowplay had decided not to record any of the system audio.  So, I have a 90 minute silent movie.

I knew there was a problem with Shadowplay and microphone headsets, where it only records the microphone and not the system audio, but I'd accepted that and was planning to do a separate narration recording using Audacity like I did for the first episode. Never expected it to just ignore the audio all together.  Pretty annoyed at the minute, as I can't even replay the episode as I saved over the original save file when I thought I had finished.  So basically it screwed up the entire series.
