I think Skybird should just stick with his i5-2500K. That CPU is still going strong (https://www.techspot.com/review/1474-ryzen-vs-older-budget-cpus/). Ssnake responds as well. Notes:
- AMD CPUs aren't using Hyperthreading, but they can have more threads than cores
- What Ssnake calls Threadripper is actually Ryzen 7, what he calls small Epyc is actually Threadripper, and what he calls large Epyc is actually EPYC

Ssnake is wrong. You do not need Windows 10 in order to take advantage of more than 4 threads. Battlefield 3 (https://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654490183312047/) and Crysis 3 (https://www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-linux-society-1000004/crysis-3-is-an-example-of-how-well-amd-cpus-perfor-29356784/) were taking advantage of 8 threads long ago. Skybird should have taken Ssnake's advice: "You don't really want to discuss these technical details with me. I honestly believe that GPU fans are made to swirl a cache of pixie dust to power the pixel demons, or something." (http://) :crazy
