Title: Photobucket wants me to pay $40 per month!!!

Photobucket wants me to pay $40 per month!!!
That's right. If you have used PB to insert a link anywhere, that is considered 3rd party. What you will see is the above image instead of your image. If you click the image it will eventually take you back to PB with many adverts.
This came without warning! The images are still there but cannot now be seen within posts. Imagine all the posts affected throughout the internet. Years, millions of images. All those "How to" and tutorials will not be easy to follow.
This affects me/us as I have used PB until the end of last year to post images. I have posted many images. Imagine what it would take to repair the broken links by transferring the images! You will unfortunately see the above image in many posts.
The solution? Use imgur or another free host? Use another service? Use this forum? All have pros and cons.
Any help advice friends?

From now on, use Imgur for your future images. I don't know for certain about transferring your current images from Photobucket to elsewhere.

Hi Rinix.
I moved to Imgur months ago. Maybe they will do the same eventually.....

I don't like Photobucket. I haven't liked it for a long time. too much BS adds. Not sure if imgur is better either. One possible could be Flickr. Also worth of trying could be Dropbox. If that works it could even be more reliable.
Also... Please. I'd really think its time for that donation button or address to emerge to our forum.

I stopped using Flickr after they deleted my account following a few months of inactivity. Luckily I didn't have too many pictures there but, hey, you don't do that.

So far I have not had any trouble with Flickr. And I'm wondering how comes you had such? I have seen so many inactive galleries that it sounds weird.
My only real concern is that it's part of Yahoo. Like email and everything. It's not that much to my liking. My Yahoo mail is full of trash mail even when I never used it, or linked it anywhere. Sooo... Yeah.

400 per year is too much for photo hosting. It's like literally insanity.
I wonder if there is actually way to contact them and telling what is situation?
Because.. seriously. If this doesn't get solved. I'm all happy to start telling everyone that Photobucket is shit.

I have always used imgur. I hope they don't blindly follow PB down their short-sited path of stupidity. I read a interesting comment on PC Magazine (https://www.pcmag.com/news/354711/photobucket-breaks-image-links-across-the-internet) website by a user named "iffydiffy":
"If you have used Photobucket (and I do), then you know their technical prowess is very weak. Their website fails a lot, there is no usable tech support whatsoever, and they have steadily made their site less and less efficient over the years by overburdening it with a fancier and fancier, more animated user interface that is far more cumbersome and much less useful than it was 5 or 10 years ago.
So don't expect them to have the brains to realize how stupid this move was. They will go out of business. Their "new customers per month" number just went to zero, for starters. Anyone who goes to Photobucket today and realizes they can't post links to their photos elsewhere on the internet is going to move on to some other service. And every single one of their existing customers is scrambling to download all their stuff even as I type this so they can move it to another service.
Even if they revise their policy, they are probably doomed. Would YOU stay there, once they did this? I would probably keep my existing photos on their for a while, but I would start hosting everything new at another service. And that means that over time, their customer base will trickle down to zero."

PhotoBUCKet is definitely living up to its name. Another free image hosting site is http://postimage.io/ and it can be integrated with SMF.

Users are now complaining that Photobucket will not allow any access to the stored images until the $400 fee is paid, and are throwing around words like "extortion," "blackmail," and "ransom" in comments about the sudden change in the company's terms. http://techreport.com/news/32200/photobucket-tos-change-puts-a-400-wall-around-its-garden

Hi Frankie
I feel, as do many others, that Photobucket is holding us to ransom. No warning, No options. They have even been twisted with the subscription. They will not let people purchase 1 month. They have to pay for a whole year up front.
These practices should not be rewarded.
Photobucket is RANSOMWARE.

They suck.....I deleted my pictures and I'm moving on. Since I already have a Yahoo account for fantasy football I'll try flickr. What about Google drive or Amazon drive do they work for third party?
