Early Access Release of DCS: Spitfire LF Mk. IX

Today we are proud to bring you the Early Access Spitfire LF Mk. IX! Many pilots that have flown several World War II warbirds remark that the Spitfire was their favorite, based on its exceptional manoeuvrability, easy of flight, and stunning looks. We think that you will agree!

You can purchase the Spitfire from DCS E-Shop. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/spitfire/

The British Spitfire is one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of World War II. Most famous for its role in the Battle of Britain, the Spitfire served as Britain's primary fighter during the entirety of the war. The Spitfire combines graceful lines, eye-watering dogfight performance, and heavy firepower in its later variants. For DCS World, we are happy to bring you the most accurate and realistic simulation of the Spitfire LF Mk. IX ever created.

The Spitfire LF Mk. IX was originally developed as a stopgap measure as a response to the appearance of the Focke-Wulf FW 190A.

The Spitfire LF Mk. IX is powered by the Merlin 66. This engine produces its best performance at slightly lower altitudes than the older Merlin 61. Spitfires equipped with this engine were designated LF Mk. IX. This was the most numerous version of the Mk. IX, with 4,010 produced. The majority of Mk. IXs of all types used the standard "c" wing, which would often carry two 20mm cannon and four .303in machine guns.

Note: To coincide with the Early Access release of the Spitfire, we are also releasing Update 3 to DCS World 1.5.5.

What an awesome plane and product. R.J. Mitchell (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._J._Mitchell) was a genius and and hero of the Empire. No, not that Empire. The other one. And it reminds of a certain movie that came out in 1969 starring some virtual unknowns by the name of Michael C., Susannah Y. and Lawrence O. Here's the lowdown on the challenges of the movie that involved assembling a fleet of actual WW2 airplanes, mainly from Spain, and the thrills of filming aerial scenes in the days of yore without CGI. Enjoy (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/starsandstories/6175448/The-Battle-of-Britain-the-mother-of-all-air-battles.html).

I'm really tempted to buy it although currently I have nearly no time to fly. Mk. IX is my favourite Spitfire version.

Hi Lusik. Nice video. At first I thought some enthusiast had built his own Spitfire cockpit to practice startup procedures. Nice, right down to the light green interior paint. Then I realize, holy Molly, that it's the real McCoy - a real Spitfire. Wowie. Listen to that engine roar into action, and watch that cockpit vibrate!!
