Title: Slight freeze in game (happens intermittently)
Post by: Frankie on February 26, 2015, 03:50:53 PM
Occasionally my screen freezes for a up to a second or two before continuing. This can happen during the thick of action. Is this due to the AAR recorder writing to my harddisc? If yes, then is there any way to disable the AAR recorder. I've tried disabling/quitting other programs (am running Windows7 Professional 64-bit) so as to free up more RAM on my laptop. I've also experimenting with the lowest graphic settings.

This freezing is casual to me since I play much online these days. And It is since of lag.

On single player games I have not encountered anything like this before so I don't know.

As for AAR... I do not think so? You might want to ask from Steelbeast forums about this. I think that it is something that only developers might know about.

Hi Frankie

Are you using your Dongle or a time limited license?

What are the specs of your PC it may be a simple case that your PC cannot handle larger scenarios. Reduce some of the graphics settings and see if there is any change. Make sure drivers are up to date. A "bad" graphics driver can cause micro stutters.

If you open the Windows "Task Manager" you will be able to see "resource usage" and "spiking" this may show another program is using resources.

The AAR function within SB writes every 2 minutes to the HDD. As far as i know you can not disable the AAR writing.

SB also creates a "Log" file i am not sure how often that is written to.

The CodeMeter software also checks for an active up to date license every 2 minutes. Have you modified the "Webadmin" settings in the CodeMeter program in any way?

Maybe try the following:
•   Disable background processes
•   Disable Virus checker
•   Defrag HD
•   Do you have Hamachi or Tungle installed?
•   Make sure drivers are up to date. A "bad" graphics driver can cause micro stutters.

These symptoms were discussed a while back and apparently addressed by a fix a few versions ago.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards

Hi Asid. Thanks for the reply. My laptop specs: Dell Latitude 3440, 8Gb RAM, Integrated Intel HD Graphics, No dedicated graphic card" - Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1,
Processor: 1.70 gigahertz Intel Core i5-4210U,
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0X0J08 (SOCKET 0)
Display:    Intel(R) HD Graphics Family [Display adapter]
I have ESET Endpoint Antivirus (Nod32) running. I'll try to turn it off during gameplay (plus your other suggestions) and see if that helps. It's not a deal-breaker.  I still thoroughly enjoyed playing the offline Patrol Recon_M1A2_HD.sce last night, where my units got slaughtered one by one by the enemy. Problem was I split them up and sent them out on individual assault way points like on some death-wish search-and-destroy mission. Individual lambs to the slaughter. I stumbled upon enemy units which promptly took me out.

Hiya Colebrook

Yes, you were right! Now that I am using the perpetual license, the problem is gone.
