Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HAVOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.) And (others)
1) SITUATION:
a) Enemy:
Enemy is holding the Town of Celle to our south-west and are using the railroad going through Langlingen and the road going Schepelse- Hohnebostel to supply their forces.
Elements of an enemy recon company have been sighted south of the Lachte river securing their northern flank.
Drone recon shows unit consisting with an enemy MECH COY in the area between the Ahnsbecker Kanal and the Aller River
Intel sources in Langlingen have identified enemy company of T-72 type in and around the area of Aller River and the Wienhäuser Mühlenkanal
S2 estimate that they can bring in an additional company of tanks from their forces in Celle if 14. PzGr Brigade cannot maintain pressure on them.
Previous Engineer recon indicates that a lot of the Bridges are made with materials that cannot take the weight of our armored vehicles. Activity has been sighted around some of the bridge. This could indicate preparations for bridge demolition. We cannot guarantee that all the bridges are still available.
Enemy Air warning yellow
b) Own:
14th Panzer Grenadier Brigade is attacking south-west towards Celle. They have encountered heavy enemy resistance and enemy reinforcements and supplies are being brought in.
We have been tasked with making a flanking attack in order to cut of those supply lines.
This forces us to cross 4 major waterways.
Your BG, 11th Panzer BTN, have been sent to the area north of Lachendorf to prepare for the attack.
You have been given 2x Armored COY and 1x Mechanized COY(+) with an additional third Armored COY in reserve in case of strong resistance.
You have been rushed into the area and Brigade have assigned 6 Biber Bridges including an Engineer PLT to you.
BTN HQ have also been assigned one PLT of Luchs recon which will be placed ahead of Lachte river to provide recon.
2) MISSION:
Charlie Coy (D.O.W), will be main body of the battalion attack together with Bravo Coy (others)
Our mission will be to attack towards south on right side of Bravo company following Battalion leaders orders. While India Coy will provide flank cover.
Once objective area at south is reached and secured. Mission ends.
3) EXECUTION:
Battalion Attack
Intent: It is our BDE CO intent to attack south and cut of the railroad south of Langlingen as our primary target, and further cut the road between Schepelse and Hohnebostel as the second objective.

All please show up in DOW TS channel 30mins prior to mission time for a quick briefing, map orientation, unit assignment, and download of the mission. We will join the others ts 15mins prior to mission start to make sure we are all setup in their TS. If you can show up earlier to do some of this, that would help.

I will be there as planned, but...
I am on a 15-minute casevac standby until 1700UTC, then I'm on a 30-minute standby for 48 hours after that (ugh). I should still be able to make it by 1730 UTC as requested. I'll update when I see you guys online in a couple of hours.

No problem.
Stay safe my friend

I'm on-call this weekend as well. :(
Hopefully will be quiet for the time being.

This went very well.
Great CO from our own Cougar.
I had Con and Stormin in my platoon. Con controlled a section. He did it very well and was a great asset. Well played Con. We worked well together. Great comms and manoeuvring. We lost no vehicles.
Thanks to all who played.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Joint Ops mission with others. I found it very immersive. I liked the communication setup on TS and thought it worked well and reflected the real world with two radios, one on Platoon TAC and the other on Company. Any frustrations I had were with SB in general. For example, bumping into a small tree took out my driver and commander and GPS. Because we all know trees are very dangerous for tanks:
https://youtu.be/fReXK_ntOYg
The other frustration was not having our logistics unit because another player did't seem to know or care they were in control of that unit. Seems like it would be easy to add that to software to show who is in control of what units.

Well.. I lost my driver as well... to a very minor bump at tree... but things happen because Tree in the woods on steelbeast = Group of trees, stumps stones ETC that you might find from woods Thus this subject of trees is talked many o times already. Being in the woods is dangerous, and should always be done under caution and concern. (even when damage in real life would be smaller, there would be a lot of other troubles that cannot be modeled to SB.) so I have understood it. Though... even I tend to forged of how dangerous trees are. It's hard to keep them dangerous when those are so sparsely put here and there... and I get these feeling. Yeah I will fit between these. And I can drive faster... and then bamm.. I lose my driver. :( do we ever learn to be aware and concerned while cruising near woods? I doubt.
Other thing are these marshes and soft grounds. I must say... im not used to. like... I kind of feel that I can go anywhere in this sim and there is no real danger of getting stuck. But this weekends games proved otherwise. Saturday, some got stuck.. and same on sunday.. And well I was one of those unlucky ones. Some were lucky that they managed to wiggle out from swamp. I wasn't. I could have.. I was about to make it.. and then I received 125mm high exposive to my ass.
Im kind of starting to think... that it will be very good improvement if they truly can bring this HD terrain, in future. Perhaps we learn to be more careful.
One thing that I talked a lot with Evilfox was driving... and what little I know of heavy machines. Its not easy. Not at all. He shoved me his gallery of photos from army time and man... I tell you. There is so many things you have to be aware as AFV driver. And always concerned of where you drive and how. Its not like... you could just go anywhere. That certainly is not the case. In short terms you can do wild moves... and may not suffer mobility kill right away. But seriously... consequences will come sooner or later.
In Havoc when we start doing multicrew.. driving, and terrain is one thing im going to focus a lot. There will be lot bad terrain like we have now experienced. that driving wont be like shooting fish in a barrel.
-----------------
I really wish I would have been with you guys there. I had very lonely time in the flank guard. I think that describes it best... lonely. - and towards the end, i felt as being insignificant part of force, haunted by boredom.
