Maffia III
Mafia III is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, on October 7, 2016. It is the third installment in the Mafia series, and the debut title for Hangar 13. Set in 1968 in the city of New Bordeaux, the story revolves around Lincoln Clay, an orphan and a Vietnam War veteran, who is on a quest to build a new crime organization to confront the Italian mob.
Gameplay
Mafia III is an action-adventure video game played in a third-person perspective, in which players assume control of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran on a quest to seek revenge for his friends, who are murdered by local mobs. The game is set in 1968 New Bordeaux, a reimagined version of New Orleans, with the open world design allowing players to freely explore the game's world. Players can complete objectives using a variety of approaches. For example, players can use the weapons provided in the game, like shotguns and revolvers, to eliminate enemies. Alternatively, they can make use of stealth tactics throughout the entire mission without being noticed by enemies. The core gameplay revolves around gunplay. In addition, players can also perform executing moves and engage in melee-combat. The game also features a cover system, allowing players to take cover behind objects to avoid enemy gunfire. Players can also interrogate non-playable characters after defeating them in order to gain more information on his objectives. Players can attack and overrun locations owned by the Italian mob, and assign one of their lieutenants to operate the location.
Plot
The game takes place in the year of 1968, and revolves around Lincoln Clay, a biracial orphan and Vietnam veteran. As an orphan, he was constantly looking for a family, until he joined the armed forces and fought in the Vietnam War. After serving he returned to New Bordeaux (a fictionalized version of New Orleans), he rejoins The Black Mob. After surviving a murder attempt by the Italian mob which kills the whole black mob in the process, Clay is saved by a priest and attempts to start his own criminal organization to get revenge. Clay is aided by three allies, which include Cassandra, Burke, and Vito Scaletta.

In this extended Mafia III gameplay demo from Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, Lincoln Clay takes out one of Sal Marcano’s underbosses, Tony Derazio. On Oct. 7, you will complete these missions any way you want.

Just the intro has whet my whistle! :o
This is just the intro cut scene to the game - no actual game footage in this

Well I'm 3 hours in and I'm loving it.
Story is great. Animations are great. Facial expressions, speech...Gameplay is what gameplay was in previous ones so no issues with that yet either.
The previous Mafia games, for me, have been about immersion and story.
I would take this chance to let you know that there's lots of cut scenes and they are pretty lengthy in places - but stay with them - they are great and key to the story. Don't do what I did and not take note - I lost who was who in places.
Car handling is like the previous two - which is ok...I eventually got used to how they handled and I will do here.
Graphics - I haven't managed to nail them down yet. It's a bit dark for me in places at times and also there's a lot of "bloom" - so I need to meddle. But otherwise, top notch. I have no idea what the issue with 30fps is about. It's running at 30fps on my system and looks and plays great.
So far this is hitting the spot.

Oh...and the music is superb to do far
Oh yes, I leave the game open and make that im sitting in a car, so when working alt tabbed I can listen to the in-game radio...
-
Soo I found the way to put the game music on my phone. The quality of the music files is pretty high so its worth the effort to extract them.
In order to do so get the following tool:
http://www.scampers.org/steve/sms/other.htm
then hit open file and browse to the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mafia III\edit\audio\packages
Or any other steam map you put Mafia III in...
In there select radio_global.pck
Now you are in to all the music files. As you can see they are in .wwise_v format. The tool wil be able to play the files. If you hit the save button you can convert it to either .ogg or .wav however, you can only do one file at a time.
Extract now and thank me later...
-
Found the way to extract and convert all, its in the extract menu...
By the way,
First up warning for people thinking about buying Mafia 3:
Mafia 3 is amazing but not everyones cup of tea, especially in its current state. The graphics are below moderate (gras and nature is stunning though), game is pretty resource heavy, runs buggy crashes now and then..
Appart from that it has a lot of scripting and AI issues, scripted scenes will not work as intended, AI will drive horrible, some things will spawn in front of you, there is invisible walls, bushes are walls (Really?) there is train and tram tracks but no train, cars are not saveable and you cant (yet, as there will be a free dlc) modify them, and so on and so on.
If you want a new shiny game and are easaly bothered by this stuff described this game is not for you. This game is a game with amazing driving (for the cars at the time) and an awsome story line. It is spot on by creating the right atmosphere and you will feel like beeing a character playing in a movie in that time period. The music, the narration, the adds on the radio and billboards, the magazines, artwork, conversations, subjects in conversations, the music all spot on. Where in areas the details have been left out as in AI behavior and scripting and some things just lacking or wrong (did they run out of budget or something?) in some areas there is unlimited depth.
The gameplay however is a mismatch between Mafia 2 and I would say leaning more to the Saints Row series. The missions is a lot of the same stuff as done in Saints Row. That does bother me but hey its Mafia 3 and I dont care, for me it does not matter how bad or good it is, I enjoy this game. Hopefully dlc's and updates will make it better later
I am not regretting my purchase, you may though, so think twice or even four times before you buy, be realy sure you are okay with all its quircks, fails and bugs, and that trough whatever it is now you can enjoy and in your mind fill in the gaps that have not been filled (yet maybe)
