VBS3: Flagship of the U.S. Army's Games for Training Program
A recent report from Harris Williams & Co. on defense simulation highlights key simulation capabilities in demand by military customers. According to the paper, key military decision-makers and end-users identified these core capabilities as realism, accessibility, interoperability and LVC training.
The report also notes that there is a "strategic imperative" for better training for ground forces who receive the brunt of casualties even as defense budgets for infantry training continue to be at significantly lower levels than those for pilots, tank commanders and others. The paper also notes that game-based simulation technologies are fast outpacing traditional flight simulation tools in their capability to more accurately represent terrains as well as behaviors and tactics through artificial intelligence.
