Title: Tacview for sub warfare?
Post by: Grover112 on July 16, 2018, 01:48:06 AM
As a former US military officer I use  a number of different simulators/games, such as Steel Beasts, CMANO and DCS (where I heard of Tacview).  Once I used Tacview I realized that it would be perfect to analyze the undersea submarine duels in Cold Waters.  The options seem to allow it to show the depths under the ocean, so that made me think it might work.

Unfortunately I have no programming or other computer skills aside from user, so that question os far beyond me.

Can anyone else answer that, including the HOW?

TIA

I can’t agree more! I am playing Cold Water too, and I which it could be possible to playback missions, so I can understand better what happened. With the constant "fog of war" in this game, this is even more important than in flight simulators.

Unfortunately, looking at Cold Water files, I do not see any way to export data from it which could be read by Tacview (for example, there is no software development kit available).

I have contacted the dev team of Cold Water on that mater, we’ll see if they are interested in adding support for Tacview in their product…

I have just received an answer from Paul.

He says that he likes the idea of playback in general and Tacview in particular. That said, this feature is not yet planned, and he does not know yet if they will do it.

Time will tell...
