Early XVIII° century. The Spanish Empire, the empire on which the sun never sets, is facing deadly menaces. Under the pressure of internal and external forces and mighty neighbours, he is losing the grip and the influence over Europe.
For decades numerous conflicts have drained massive resources without bringing any real advantage, worse, causing territorial losses, and now the last Habsburg King of Spain is dying without having a direct heir. His will names the grandson of France Louis XIV as heir, but the Austrian branch of the family is contesting it.
His death could trigger the first real global war in modern history.
To make the situation more complicated, the Polish, Eastern and Baltic regions are in turmoil, as the Tsardom of Russia now lead by Peter I Romanov (the Great) is forging an alliance to tear up the Swedish realm and to break its Dominum Maris Baltici.
But despite being numerically outnumbered, the young but military-gifted Swedish King Charles XII has at his service probably the best organized and modern army of the time, and he is not prone to surrender without a biting fight.
Europe once again is on the brink of a new era of conflicts. To whom will you swear your loyalty?

Today we are ready to share a couple of screenshots taken from the current version of Wars of Succession, the upcoming wargame developed by Ageod!
The screenshots feature the political division of Europe at the beginning of the XVIII century, and an historical event allows a key alliance with Bavaria!

First half of XVIII century. There’s no peace over Europe.
After the great struggles of the Thirty Years War ending in 1648 with the Cuius Regio Eius Religio principle, two major conflicts are about to turn to pieces the Old Continent.
On one hand, the French & Spanish Bourbons monarchs are gathering their forces against the Grand Alliance built by Austrian Habsburg, Britain and the United Provinces, fighting to inherit the leadership of the Spanish Empire.
On the other corner of Europe, a coalition of Danes, Saxons, Poles and Russians led by the famous Peter I The Great is trying to deal a mortal blow to the Kingdom of Sweden and to switch the balance of power in this region. But the young and military-gifted king Charles the XII of Sweden will fight with tooth and nails to defend its realm.

Ageod Games is very proud to announce a collaboration with El Gran Capitan Association ("The Great Captain") – one of the biggest Historical Association written in Spanish – in support of the upcoming Wars of Succession game.
Born in 2003, El Gran Capitán ("The Great Captain") is an Spanish History Association supported by an extensive community of friends with a common interest, the military history of all times. Thanks to the contributions of their members and the emphasis on quality it has become the reference on the subject for Spanish speakers.
Currently composed of 8,800 people, it has 586 articles and the best collection of war images on the network. The Association doesn't have any political affiliation and doesn't support any present or past ideology. El Gran Capitán constitutes a space to dialogue and discuss freely, within the limits imposed by respect and democracy.

Severe Winter 1709 Fix

Reported by a Matrix forum user, the severe winter of 1708-1709 gets prolonged 6 months instead of 2, following a data error in the last version of 1709 scenario.
Here is the fix, just copy-paste it over the original scenario in the Scens folder.

This is a short one, to correct some specific and rare cases where the Spanish Treasure fleet event was broken. Some texts explanations have been added in the events for better clarity.
Copy paste the enclosed file in the game.

It’s all inclusive of all previous patches and can apply on either a previously patched version or a vanilla game. It’s save compatible (although behavior of previous saves may be altered by changes).

Released back on January, Ageod's Wars of Succession (http://www.matrixgames.com/products/product.asp?gid=637) has been praised by many for its incredible accuracy in recreating two of the major wars of the XVIII century that, for intensity and extension, can be easily considered forerunners of more modern global conflicts
One of these wars was the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1713), pitting the French & Spanish Bourbons monarchs against the Grand Alliance built by Austrian Habsburg, Britain and the United Provinces. The other is the Great Northern War (1700-1721), between Sweden and Russia (and her allies), most of which focused around the succession of Poland.
