Nice, I have this as well.  We should try out the shared cockpit feature some time...I've never done it myself, but the TFDI B717 has it built in.  I use prepar3d V4.

That would be great Skoop. I will let you know  :thumbsup

Shared cockpit?

I managed to help Skoop with his shared port forwarding. We both had different sims

Skoop: P3DV4 (64bit)
Me: P3DV3 (32bit)

It worked.  :thumbsup

Lots more to come  :happyhappy

Beef and I did a shared cockpit lastnight. He was PIC and I the FO. We just jumped right in. We do need to tweak things a little but it was great fun...Beef knows his stuff   :book

Thanks for a great time Beef  :thumbsup

I really like this airplane. Reminds me so much of the PMDG MD-11.  Here is a screen shot of external view of the B717 in Hawaiian airlines livery I took the other day on my first flight (not during flight with Asid yesterday--that was second flight). I look forward to more flights with Asid. I think it'll be a very immersive experience!

110 knots in the face makes this slow going in my AirTran 717 from KDEN to KPHX. Notice the Ground Speed (GS) difference compared to True Air Speed (TAS).
The plane thinks it's hauling a$$, but it isn't  :oldman2

Departing Denver International

AirTran was bought by Southwest and no longer exists. Southwest does not operate the B717...but I like flying the Denver-Phoenix sector.

It was a good flight. Definitely getting a feel for it. Need to figure out the effects of pushing the Resync button on the tablet though!

Here we are arriving in Phoenix, north of the airfield.

Well it appears my employer cares about my flight simming enjoyment.  They sent us all $100 holiday thank you check today.

So picked up the 717 :)

Now if I can get the transaction to actually complete in their system.  "PENDING"

Best multiplayer flight to-date!

Flew from PHOG to PHLI in the Hawaiian Islands. Here we are at the destination terminal gate.

Well this could be part of the problem.

Sitting on the runway at PAJN, 1400 Local Time w/static weather.

TFDi 717 - 55-65% CPU usage - 17-26 FPS

Majestic Dash 8 - 19-21% CPU usage  -  40-50 FPS

A2A Cherokee - 15-18% CPU usage  -  38-55 FPS

I just included the A2A as a general aviation example.  Its amazing how much more the 717 eats up compared to the Dash 8.

I sure hope they are working on some Chuck Norris-like optimization.

The 717 is heavy when it comes to systems. They are constantly improving the plane. Good devs IMHO  :thumbsup

Funny thing is that this does not affect everyone.

Hang in there  :thumbsup

Interesting CPU issue. I did some checking on my FSX system and did not have the same problem. Here are the results I had:

FSX sitting at a gate at Anchorage. I have Aerosoft's Anchorage X and it is the most demanding scenery I have:

Orbx Bob (for a "nominal baseline" at PANC) - 18% CPU

Q400 - 26% CPU

PMDG 777 - 19% (engine/systems on too!)

TFDi 717 - 25%

So, unlike your results, the 717 and Q400 had similar CPU results whereas in your case it was twice as high. The difference is, of course, you are running P3Dv4 and I'm running FSX. Also, my FPS had negligible variation.

All things considered, how does the 717 "feel" for you Stardog? Do you notice a performance degradation as a result of the CPU demand?

My system has an i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 16GB RAM, and GeForce GTX 1070 video card.

Interesting.
Ya I can imagine that is the case with FSX. I think P3Dv4 is still very much being tweaked.
As for the difference between the 64bit and 32bit version of the 717 I cannot say.  I have an ongoing conversation about it over on their performance forums. It is an issue for sure because that forum is full of people seeing the same thing.
When I am outside the plane my FPS jumps 20FPS, its just when in the plane and especially with the systems running ready for take off.  I would guess its something different in how P3Dv4 and FSX renders gauges but I cant say for sure.

As for if I notice it, yes I can certainly notice it, I wont say it totally unflyable but its very noticeable in terms of smooth operation.  It is something they are quite aware of just based on  how many threads there are in their performance forums and I am sure something they are working on.  Seems like they very much want to get it right so no worries. I will just see how it goes and as long as it doesnt get any worse I can at least use the aircraft.
