We play three Vs AI on the beautiful Ligny map.

It was three hours long, corps Vs corps. I was the French commander in chief, sandman and Colbert had an infantry division each.

The objective of this scenario was to seize the town of Brye, northwest of Ligny, which is protected south from a wood and from a river running west-east.

Our corps started in the southwest corner of the map, around Fleurus. I ordered sandman to march to Saint Amand la Haie, a small village southwest of Brye, preceded by our cavalry division and by artillery reserve corps. Colbert had to march towards Ligny, southeast of the objective and occupy the high ground which dominated the valley where the objective lies. Girard's division march on sandman's left, moving around Saint Amand and deploying facing east while Foy's division stayed in a reserve role south of sandman's position.

First contact was made by Colbert, on our right, with Nassau division which consist of only big infantry battalion though composed by militia man.
I ordered him to push them possibly away from the objective path.

In the meantime sandman's division, cavalry and heavy artillery took place just south of the stream, on Colbert's left, facing Picton's division but in this phase only artilleries and some skirmishers detachments took part in the fight.

Girard's division completed its deployment and started a probe attack on Picton's right flank. I personally followed this attack which attracted one and a half of Picton's brigades but I decided to shortly retreat to the west Girard's division because I was taking too much casualties for a probe attack.

Colbert's attack proceeded well and he was able to push into the woods just south of Brye but I received some dispatches from sandman about cavalry movement north of his position.

Dutch squadrons attacked Colbert's left causing a couple of his battalions to retreat then I gave immediate orders to Huber's chasseurs à cheval brigade to counterattack. The fight was hard and without a clear winner but at least made the enemy cavalry to retreat north of the stream again.

Sandman was already conducting an attack in Girard's support near the town of Saint Amand.

Hundreds of enemy cavalry were deploying west of Brye making nearly impossible to move something on that side of the river and blocking a possible flanking manoeuvre from the west.

Colbert found Brunswick division around the houses of Brye and their cavalry to the west with the Dutch one.

Colbert had some squares deployed to protect him and in the meantime I brought forward every artillery piece I had available to bombard the enemy cavalry.

Sandman completed the river crossing and deployed his division facing east.

Our second cavalry brigade, Wathiez's lancers, were taking place behind the artillery pieces in the center and I also recalled Foy's division to redeploy just behind the cavalry.

After some minutes the last cavalry charge started. Lancers steadily advanced in the center, crossed the stream and attacked everything in front of them.

The enemy cavalry melted down and retreated many yards to the north.

Colbert pushed forward and took the objective but was immediately counterattacked by a British infantry division. He asked for reinforcements so I sent him the remnants of the first cavalry brigade and the two brigades of Foy's division.

Sandman was pushing from the east towards Brye fighting the last enemy resistance when time expired.

A victory for us but not so easy to achieve and a good training session with my friends :howdy
