Title: Error in orientation yaw for object ?
Post by: TAG on August 14, 2018, 11:45:32 PM
Hello

When I try to create a runway for an airport, I use object/orientation/yaw.

But it seems that there is a mistake in it between Magnetic North and True North.

For example, for the airport of Kobuleti, the orientation using True North is 070° for the runway 07 and the magnetic north is 064° (-6° of deviation). But in Tacview, I need to put 076° for its orientation. It seems that there is an inversion.

Do am I right ?

thanks !

In Tacview, declarations must always use the true north.

Now, depending on your data source, you may have to apply some correction. For example, DCS world Caucasus map is distorted, so you will have to compensate for the difference.

You may notice the same kind of problem with IL-2 and/or BMS. Only a few simulators and maps are properly projected (FSX, X-Plane are accurate for example).

Which simulator are you working with?
