IL-2 Battle of Moscow

This one was released a couple of weeks back as a standalone sim or as a DLC for Battle of Stalingrad (Steam version).

It's good to be back in the "Rata" (I-16), the nimble rascal in which I spent so many hours of flight simulation back when Oleg Madox was in the corner office.

Machine guns were not enough for these German tanks.

Battle of Moscow includes new planes and a new slice of the huge Eastern Front. This is the city of Rzhev, which witnessed its share of slaughter. Both fall and winter versions of this map are included.

German rocket launchers near Nefedevo. Note the rocket's smoke trails arching towards their target.

What are your thoughts on this title?

I love WWII era sims & of late have had a special interest in Soviet aircraft so I have looked at it hard. it looks nice but on Steam it has mixed reviews & for me my most valuable commodity is time. I hate to purchase it only to be disappointed & waste time on it.

I would appreciate any insight into it you could provide.

I don't think anybody here has it. I've been considering buying it but, just as you, I have the same doubts. I haven't played any WW2 sim since Cliffs of Dover and the good old Il-2 Sturmovik series.

I'm just out of a IL2 BOS flight.

Multiplayer is getting deserted. At least, the hardcore servers.  It's still a good experience, with top notch graphics, quality flight model, very good vfx and sfx. (hell, even the weed bend to the Wind generated by engines).  Whoever look into an experience close to the original IL2 will appreciate this one. Those who look for more hardcore, have more hardcore options such IL2 cliff of dover, which multiplayer still has decent headcount, and DCS which has best planes but weak environment.
